This Season’s Staples: The New Denim Silhouette

This Season’s Staples: The New Denim Silhouette
I’m excited to present the next post in my new style series, This Season’s Staples. In this series, I’ve been taking a look at all kinds of wardrobe basics from the perfect cozy sweater to a black pump, and sharing my favorite updated versions for Spring 2016. Updating your closet basics is the best way to make sure that even your most classic pieces are still on-trend. And today, I’m tackling the most classic closet staple of them all: denim.

I’ve been pretty loyal to the skinny jean these past few years. And while I certainly won’t be retiring my skinnies anytime soon, I’m also quite smitten with a new denim silhouette this season: the ‘70s-style bellbottom. ‘70s-inspired pieces are a major fashion trend this season, from suede to platform shoes to button-front skirts to mules. And denim is no exception. Keep reading to see how we styled this denim silhouette and to shop for the items I’m wearing…

flared jeans and lace top on lauren conrad

We paired my McGuire Majorelle Flare Jeans with a lacey top from Rebecca Minkoff. Since the jeans were longer, it made sense to play with proportions and pair them with a cropped top. Even if you’re petite, don’t let that stop you from trying this style of jeans. Paired with a slightly cropped top and platform heels, this look will actually elongate your stature. We finished off my look with Vita Fede jewelry and Tom Ford lipstick in a brand-new shade called ‘Berry’ that is coming out soon.
