This Season’s Staples: Spring’s Skirt Silhouette

This Season’s Staples: Spring’s Skirt Silhouette
It’s funny now to think about how mini skirts used to rule the fashion front about a decade ago. My closet was filled with jean skirts, ruffled skirts and skater skirts, all hitting way above the knee. But of course fashion trends come and go, and the mini skirt is now a style of the past. This spring, a more elevated and sophisticated skirt silhouette is breaking through: the midi.

While this length has been up-and-coming for a few seasons now, this spring really marks its time to shine. I love the longer length of a midi skirt, and there’s something so feminine and nostalgic about it. It’s impossible not to feel like a lady when wearing one with heels (try it and you’ll see!). In today’s installment of This Season’s Staples, I’m modeling one of my favorite pastel lavender looks, centered around this skirt silhouette. Take a peek below and be sure to click the links to shop my look…

The skirt silhouette that Lauren Conrad is crazy about

To create this look, stylist Katie Bofshever and I paired a sleek midi skirt with a chunky sweater (both by Iris von Arnim). This is a great transitional outfit for those spring days that aren’t quite warm enough to bare your shoulders yet. This midi skirt and sweater combo looks great with heeled strappy sandals, but you could also wear it with ballerina flats if you’re going to be on your feet or suede booties if you’re going out to dinner. We completed my look with a Vita Fede ring and makeup artist Carissa Ferreri created my lip color using Tom Ford’s Patent Finish Lip Color in Exposed. Shop similar styles to get my look below…
