Our Editors Share What They Love To Collect

One simple styling trick when it comes to home décor is to group similar items together and curate your own collection. Case in point: Having one vintage oil painting is pretty, but when you hang several together on a gallery wall, it takes things to a whole other level. So today we are sharing what a few of our editors like to collect (Lauren included!). You’ll be pleased to see that we’ve come a long way from the snow globes and stickers of our youth. Nowadays we collect things like vintage trinkets, display-worthy drinking glasses, and pretty pottery. Keep scrolling to see them all, and gather some décor inspiration for your own home…

Vintage Tea Cups

“I had a gorgeous collection of vintage teacups that I sourced from different flea markets and antique stores. I gave the collection to Sweet Laurel Bakery when I moved out of my old home, but I had such a fun time collecting all those years before.” – Lauren, Editor-in-Chief

Vintage Apple Décor

“My love for vintage apple décor might rival my love for apple pie. I started collecting apples after William and I got engaged, since his name is William Tell, like the legendary Swiss hero who shot an apple off his son’s head.” – Lauren, Editor-in-Chief

Oil Paintings of Flowers

“What started out as a treasure hunt in my favorite local antique stores has turned into a little collection over the years. I love adding new and unique oil paintings of flowers to my collection, especially if they have a beautiful ornate frame. I have a gallery wall in my home to showcase them, but I like to pepper them throughout each room as well. I have a limit, I promise!” – Jessi, Senior Editor

Pineapple Décor

“I don’t know why, but over the years I’ve been drawn to pineapple-inspired home decor. Lauren actually gifted me one of my first pineapple pieces—a vintage brass pineapple that opens up. After that I picked up a couple of wooden pineapples when I was vacationing in Bali, and have been collecting ever since. One of my favorite pineapple pieces is a gorgeous vintage brass vase that prop stylist Kate Martindale so generously gave me when we were in her studio one day and I was telling her how much I loved it.” – Rachel, Managing Editor

“What started out as a quest to find toddler-proof decor items when my kids were little has slowly become a full-blown obsession. My house is filled with baskets (most from The Little Market) and I can’t resist purchasing another anytime I see a new one. My estimate is that I have over 40 Little Market baskets in my house at this point. “I don’t know when my love {or obsession?} for collecting bowls began. I kind of realized how much I loved them when I spent a lot of my free time searching Etsy and Instagram for bowls from small pottery brands and shops. My current collection is small, but mighty. There are so many different glazes, shapes, and materials to choose from, and I love seeing what kind of colors and creative designs people can come up with for, yes, a bowl.” – Kyrena, Editorial Assistant

Coffee Table Books

“I have more coffee table books than I know what to do with, but I just can’t stop collecting them. Personally, books are my favorite kind of home decor, and I dream of the day when I can have wall-to-wall built-ins filled with my favorite books, including my collection of coffee table books. For now, my coffee table books are stacked everywhere—on pretty much every piece of furniture in my living room. Some of them have been gifts, and most of them have special meaning to me, because I remember where I was when I got it, or who gave it to me.” – Rachel, Managing Editor
