How To: Dewy Skin

How To: Dewy Skin

I always love makeup and complexion products that make my skin look fresh, dewy, and glowing. Most of the time when I’m applying my makeup, I tend to stay away from overly matte finishes or products that feel too cakey. I love products that make the beauty of you shine through, so dewy skin is definitely the look I try to achieve with makeup. Over the last few years, I’ve really nailed down a routine to consistently achieve that dewy look, and today, I’m happy to share it with you. My steps are surprisingly simple, yet very effective, so keep reading for four easy ways to achieve the dewy skin effect…

1. Mix A Few Drops Of Your Highlighter With Your Foundation

This is a pretty common way to achieve glowing, dewy skin, but the key is to use a sheer, natural highlighter so that your face isn’t completely covered in sparkles. Really make sure you’re using one that doesn’t have thick chunks of shimmer or glitter. I love mixing in my highlighter from Lauren Conrad Beauty since it’s so sheer, lightweight, and imparts a soft glow.

2. Add Highlighter…Almost Everywhere

In addition to adding highlighter to your foundation, you should 100% apply it to the high points of your face, like your cheekbones, brow bone, cupid’s bow, and the bridge of your nose. Feel free to use the same highlighter you mixed with your foundation, or even one that has a different undertone for some added dimension.

3. Bonus: Apply A Glossy Balm to Your Eyes And Cheekbones

I absolutely love applying a glossy balm to my eyelids and cheekbones to help add to that ‘dewy’ effect without adding more shimmer. It certainly helps to pull the look together. My only caveat is that you choose a balm product that won’t clog your pores. If you have sensitive or acne-prone skin, make sure the balm product you’re using is non-comedogenic and safe to use on your face.

4. Use A Hydrating Mist Throughout The Day

Now, this is the final step in my process to help maintain your dewy skin: a hydrating mist. A mist, like my Toner Mist, will help keep that gorgeous glow going all day. Plus, a little spritz here and there feels like a mini spa moment too, right?
