My Personal Perfume Journey

Any fragrance aficionados in the room? Throughout my life, perfume has been a special element in my beauty routine. Eau de parfums, to me, enhanced my outfit and my memories, and I still hold a soft spot for all the scents I used to wear when I was younger. In that spirit, I’m taking a walk down memory lane and looking back on my old scents. You’ll find that many of my previous fragrances have some similar notes {hello, white musk}, so keep reading for a little insight into my perfume journey…

The First Perfume I Ever Wore

A girl’s first fragrance is a milestone in my book. I still remember the scent of Ralph by Ralph Lauren shaping some of my most formative middle school moments.

My High School Scent

If you were a teenager in the early 2000s, chances are you liked to spritz on a bit of Clinique Happy before leaving the house. This one was an early aughts classic, with a mix of citrus and florals.

In my 20s

In my 20s, I always had a rotation of perfumes based on the season. In the colder seasons, I absolutely loved heavier fragrances that were saturated and elegant. Miss Dior Cherie was my go-to in the Fall. The musky and floral scent paired perfectly with my change in wardrobe and weather. For winter, you could catch me spritzing Issey Miyake on my wrists and neck at all times. L’Eau d’Issey felt so sophisticated and complex and was a welcome reprieve from winter temperatures.

However, when it came to spring and summer, I was a staunch Chanel Chance Eau Tendre fan. It’s such a fresh and rejuvenating scent. The mix of white musk {I’m a fan, clearly}, grapefruit, quince, and rose accord is a lovely mix that I couldn’t get enough of.

In my 30s

Though I love perfume, I stopped wearing it when I had my boys. I didn’t want to wear an overly powerful fragrance when I was holding them against me throughout the day, so I held off on it for a while. When I started wearing fragrance again, I really loved Jo Malone’s Wild Bluebell Cologne. It’s subtler than my previous perfumes, which were far stronger. With key notes of bluebell, persimmon, and white musk, this perfume is sweeter, but far less potent. I love how fresh it is, and it never feels too overpowering. Very recently, I started wearing a new favorite that I am excited to share with you next week.
