Beauty Bag Cleaning Checklist
If you’re spending a lot of time safe at home right now, we hope that you’ve been able to make the most of it. While we all are doing our best to maintain our normal routines, we do think there’s one area that might need a little change: our beauty bags. Chances are, it’s been a while since you’ve gone through your makeup bag {or medicine cabinet} and cleaned out all of the products you thought you’d end up using but haven’t touched. We felt it’d be beneficial to spring clean a small, but essential part of our lives, so today, that starts with our beauty routines. Whether you need to toss products that have been in your arsenal for far too long or swap in products that are free of harmful ingredients, keep reading to see our tips to clean up your beauty bags…
Toss your Old Products
This goes without saying, but it’s time to toss out any products that are way past their expiration date. Contrary to popular belief, all products, especially beauty products, have a shelf life. Using a product past its expiration date likely won’t be as efficacious as it was in its prime, so if you’ve had expired products that you’ve been keeping for an extended period, it’s time to let them go.
Toss your Products with Harmful Ingredients
We’ve reached a point in the beauty industry where there are so many amazing options free from harmful ingredients such as phthalates, sodium laurel sulfates (SLS), and parabens. With that said, it’s time to toss out any products that are harmful to your health. It’s important to know what’s in the products you’re applying to your hair and skin, because those products affect your body, inside and out. If you’re not sure where to start, apps like Think Dirty are great to help you know which ingredients and products you should avoid.
Consider a Clean Beauty Brand
As we mentioned earlier, there are so many new and amazing brands available that provide quality products that are not only clean, but also beneficial to your skin and body. We are all about using natural products and items that are good for us in every way, so we hope that you’ll join in with us too.
Clean your Brushes
When’s the last time you cleaned your makeup or hair brushes? If you can’t actually remember {you’re not alone}, then you can bet it’s time to give those brushes a nice and thorough clean. Ideally, we should all be cleaning our brushes once a week, especially if you’re using them every day. However, if we’re being honest, that doesn’t always happen. So, take this time to give your brushes a good cleaning and show them the love they deserve.
Get Rid of your Samples
How many of you have a stash of samples? More often than not, we usually leave them by the wayside and end up filling up our beauty bags much more than necessary. If this sounds like you, then you know what needs to happen next. It’s time to let them go, because right now, we’re focused only on the products that we actually need and use.
