From the office to photo shoots to meetings to industry events, we tend to do a lot of driving. This can mean that the same old radio stations and playlists can get old really quickly. We rely heavily on podcasts and audiobooks to make our drives more interesting and informative, and we’re always coming into the office on weekday mornings telling each other about our favorite audio finds of the moment. Most recently, with summer upon us, we’ve been more interested in podcasts and audiobooks that cover trending topics in health and wellness. After all, what better way to pass time in the car than to learn about new research and conversations that can improve your life? From books that explain the ketogenic craze to one of our good friends’ podcasts about mental health, here are 10 of Team LC’s highly recommended health and wellness podcasts and audiobooks…

1. Fat for Fuel by Dr. Joseph Mercola
This audiobook dives into everything you need to know about a ketogenic diet. It was written by Dr. Joseph Mercola, who explains the details of this diet with scientific backing, making it interesting and motivating to listen to while driving or on a long walk. One of our editors who is trying the ketogenic diet actually listened to it twice!

2. Jen Gotch Is Ok… Sometimes Podcast by Jen Gotch
This newcomer to the podcast scene (there are only 3 episodes so far) has quickly become a Team LC favorite, and it’s not just because we happen to be good friends with. Listen in as the founder of do gets opens up about her struggles with mental health and destigmatizes bipolar condition, depression, and other conditions. We find it incredibly inspiring to listen to someone who has had so much success show vulnerability and create a platform for open communication.

3. Grain Brain by David Perlmutter
Another fascinating read about diet and nutrition, the audiobook Grain Brain unveils the sad truth about the negative effects of wheat, gluten and sugar on the brain. It maps out a 30-day plan to achieve optimum health, and is a great listen for anyone attempting to go gluten-free.

4. Body Love by Kelly LeVeque
We all love our hardcopies of Body Love, written by team LC’s friend and resident nutritionist Kelly LeVeque. So you can imagine our excitement when we found out that this girl boss recorded the audiobook version! Listen in as Kelly shares tips about losing weight, attuning ourselves to our body’s needs, and eating a well-rounded, healthy diet—all with a stress and drama-free approach. Now that’s a diet book we can get behind.

5. The Ultimate Health Podcast by Dr. Jesse Chappus & Marni Wasserman
Dr. Jesse Chappus and Marni Wasserman have recorded over 200 interviews with world-class experts in the health and wellness community who discuss a range of topics including lifestyle, nutrition, self-help, wellness, meditation, and sleep, to name a few. You’ll want to make this podcast a part of your regular commuting or walking routine, as the topics are always changing and always interesting.

6. Bulletproof Radio Podcast by Dave Asprey
Ever heard of bulletproof coffee? It’s basically coffee with healthy fats and oils in it—coconut oil, butter or MCT oil. And it’s said to give your body tons of energy throughout the day. Well, the concept and phrase was coined by Dave Asprey, who has a podcast that is centered around the idea of taking control of your health and making scientific-backed decisions that will improve your biochemistry, body and mind. This podcast not only touches on diet advice, but also discussed how diet effects mental performance. It’s a good one to listen to when you need a brain boost, if you ask us!

7. The Balanced Blonde / Soul On Fire Podcast by Jordan Younger
Jordan Younger’s health and wellness podcast is an extension of her blog The Balanced Blonde, which we love. She discusses everything from lifestyle tips for female entrepreneurs to friendship to branding a business to spirituality to everything in between. If you’re a budding girl boss or a blogger, this wellness podcast is for you.

8. Feel Good Effect Podcast by Robyn Conley Downs
The description of Downs’ (of Real Whole Food Life) podcast on iTunes states that The Feel Good Effect is about deconstructing and simplifying health, to help you live a happy, authentic, inspired life. The episodes are about taking a holistic approach to living a physically and mentally healthy life.

9. Balanced Bites By Diane Sanfilippo and Liz Wolfe
The women behind this podcast are health and wellness powerhouses: Diane is the New York Times bestselling author of “Practical Paleo” and “The 21-Day Sugar Detox” and is a Certified Nutrition Consultant. And Liz is the bestselling author of “Eat the Yolks” and “The Purely Primal Skincare Guide” and a Nutritional Therapy Practitioner. Together, they dish on topics in the health and nutrition “Paleosphere” weekly. With 300 episodes to listen to, you can really go down the rabbit hole with this one!

10. The Cabral Concept Podcast by Dr. Stephen Cabral
The whole concept behind Dr. Stephen Cabral’s podcast is “change your body, change your life.” And that’s exactly what his discussions revolve around as he uncovers the root causes of why you’re feeling stuck and unable to attain and the action steps needed to live the life you always dreamed of. Each episode is filled with good facts—worth adding to your podcast lineup!
