Thank you to thredUP, a brand we love, for sponsoring this post! All thoughts and opinions are our own at Team LC.
We have our giveaway winner! Congrats to Darcy who will be receiving the $250 shopping spree to thredUP, and thank you to everyone who entered!
Transitioning your closet every single season can cost a pretty penny. And, if you’re as focused on fashion as we are (guilty!), it’s a huge challenge not to max out our shopping budgets the minute a new season arrives. Fall especially gets us excited about adding new pieces to our wardrobes—we swap out our sandals for booties, bikinis for blazers, and cut-off shorts for leather leggings. So, what’s a girl on a budget to do when the shopping bug bites? We had asked ourselves this same question for months, until we discovered thredUP, an online consignment store that carries thousands of our favorite clothing and accessory brands and retails them for up to 90% off their original value. Consider it consignment shopping made easy, but without the hassle of actually going to a thrift store. We can update our closet from our computer screens!
Fall shopping season has already begun here at the Team LC Headquarters, and today we’re going to show you what pieces we discovered from thredUP and how we’re styling them in transitional summer-to-fall ensembles. The best part about the thredUP shopping experience? You can find classic wardrobe staples that lend themselves to trends of the moment, but will also be in style for seasons to come. Here’s how the whole process works and don’t miss our giveaway at the bottom of this post for a chance to win a $250 shopping spree!
Here’s how thredUP works: First, head to their website and search for your favorite brands (there are over 35,000!), then filter by size, color, style and price. Since thredUP is the largest online thrift store, you’re bound to find what you’re looking for when browsing through the endless options. Then, select the items you love, add them to your cart and check out… And patiently wait for your favorite closet staples to be shipped right to your doorstep.
When your package arrives, you’ll see how each item is neatly folded in their signature polka dot box. Every piece comes ready to be worn, and in perfect condition. That’s because thredUP triple inspects each item by hand to ensure they are quality checked and ready to go. If your item doesn’t fit right, or the color doesn’t suit you, don’t worry—thredUP offers easy returns (and you’ll get free shipping on qualified orders too).
Now that you know the basics, are you ready to see what Team LC ordered from thredUP this month? Here’s your dose of autumn fashion inspo, and three of our expert tips for transitioning your favorite pieces from summer to fall…
1. Pair your favorite gingham shirt with fall denim.
So, you want to keep wearing your favorite gingham blouse you had on rotate all summer, but you’re looking to style it with a fall feel? Instead of wearing said blouse over a dress or with white jeans, wear it with your favorite fall denim (like the Levi’s above that were originally $60… we purchased them on thredUP for $11.99!). We scooped up the versatile Gap gingham blouse above from thredUP for just $10.99 (it retails at $55!), and it is the perfect staple piece for all seasons.
2. Add a versatile dress to your shopping cart.
A lightweight dress (like the one above) that worked with sandals and a straw bag in the summer months can easily transition to a fall essential just by choosing the right accessories. Here, we styled this Pins & Needles dress we bought on thredUP for just $25.99 (it retails at $95!) with some of our favorite fall accessories. Think cognac colored booties like the Lucky Brand ones above that we found on thredUP for just $41.99 (they retail at $129) and supple, suede textures. Plus, how cute is the neck tie detail on this dress?
3. Keep warm with thicker fabrics.
And lastly, styling your work wardrobe from summer to fall is an art form… But by swapping out your lightweight cotton or silk skirts for styles that come in thicker fabrics, you can easily transition your look between seasons. Here, we styled this Kate Spade skirt we found on thredUP for just $60.99 (it retails at $228!) with booties and an Old Navy denim shirt that retails for $27, but we got it for just $11.99 (more chambray shirts here). The skirt is made of a thicker cotton-polyester blend, which adds warmth especially when worn with a chambray or sweater.
