Tuesday Ten: April Style Tips

When spring arrives, it’s all about shorter hemlines, lacy fabric, and relaxed denim. When it comes to a warmer weather wardrobe, my motto is, the breezier, the better. I’ve been loving so many styles and trends I’ve been seeing online this season. From cold-shoulder sundresses to flirty, lightweight skirts, it really feels like spring has sprung. So, with that in mind, today I’ve rounded up some of my spring favorite looks I’ve spotted around the blogosphere. Take a peek below to see all 10 Style Tips and be sure to click the links to shop each product, too…

Pale blue cold shoulder dress

1. Be a shoulder star.
The cold shoulder trend is everywhere right now, and I’m not mad about it. I love how Chelsea of The Millennial Miss incorporated the trend into her sweet blue sundress look here.

Go for mustard yellow

2. Pass the Mustard, Please.
While many of you may think that mustard yellow falls into the category of fall colors, I beg to differ. This fresh and flattering shade of yellow can pack a punch this time of year, especially when paired with denim. Just take a hint from Aimee of Song of Style.

Flirty and Floral

3. Be Flirty & Floral.
I truly adore the way a flirty floral skirt looks when paired with a lightweight sweater this time of year. It’s a perfect way to transition into spring styles without sacrificing warmth. I have this floral Joie skirt, worn by Liz of Sequins & Stripes, on my wish list now.

Go to new lengths with lace

4. Go to New Lengths with Lace.
Wearing a white lace dress this time of year is nothing new. But one that is full-length and gracefully dusts the floor as you walk is something worth splurging on. I love this look on Kristen of Bungalow 1, and I like the idea of edging it up a bit with black leather accessories.

Bold red for spring

5. You red it here first…
Mark my words: The color red is going to be big this spring and summer. It’s a bold hue that demands attention, and I’ve been seeing so many wonderful red floral prints lately that I love. Wear a red floral dress like the one Chassity of Look Linger Love is wearing above, with a neutral bag and strappy sandals to let this bright color do all the talking.

6. Slouchy Silhouette.
When the weather warms up, all I want to do is put on comfortable, slouchy pieces that will let me move easily and feel soft on my skin. That’s why I’m loving the look of distressed boyfriend jeans, like the ones Stephanie of Styled By Noir is wearing above. Pair yours with a fitted white top that has fun details like cutouts, fringe or ruffles to give the boyfriend silhouette a little feminine touch.

a brighter shade of blue

7. A Brighter Shade of Blue.
You might remember me mentioning my love for chambray blue before. And, in case you were wondering, my obsession is still going strong. I love this shade of blue because it’s flattering on everyone and feels fresh for spring. Find a dress with fun details, like this lace-adorned off the shoulder style Jillian of Sweet & Spark is wearing here.

Striped Kate Spade dress

8. Simply Striped.
If nautical stripes and color blocking had a baby, it would look a little something like this charming Kate Spade dress on Mara of M Loves M above. Repeat after me: A girl can never have too many stripes. I love the colors of the stripes, and love how Mara styled it with a bright mustard yellow purse and cute flats. (P.S. Stay tuned for a Ladies Who Laptop interview with Mara coming later this week!)

blush crush

9. Blushing Crush.
My love for the color blush is nothing new, that’s for sure. However, with so many blush pieces popping up on my favorite online shopping sites this season, I’ve found myself scooping up some new staples to add to my collection of blush tops and dresses. Ruffled chiffon especially is my favorite texture to wear in this shade of pink. I adore how Arielle of Something Navy paired down her ladylike top with distressed denim and suede flats.

Strut in a shirtdress

10. Strut in a Shirtdress.
If you’ve ever invested in a good shirtdress, you’d probably agree with me on the fact that it can easily become one of the most worn pieces in your wardrobe. Since it’s quite literally a shirt and a dress all in one, this silhouette is great to throw on when heading to the office, a girls’ lunch, or even to happy hour. Wear yours with a tailored blazer, a structured bag, and novelty flats like Bradley of Luella & June did above, and you’ll be all set for spring.
