See our last Jumpstart January challenge for the month

Well ladies, the time has come. With January coming to a close we have finally reached our fifth and final Jumpstart January challenge. It is said that it takes roughly 21 days to form a habit, and in the course of a month we feel like we’ve made headway on quite a few. Not only have we fallen into a workout routine that has us feeling stronger than ever, but we’ve successfully cut down our alcohol and processed food consumption and turned the lights out by 11p.m. on weeknights. We have to admit that these challenges have been quite the, well, challenge. Our sugar cravings were at an all-time high and our muscles were sore in places that we didn’t know existed. But more than that, we feel like we’ve conquered huge milestones on our journey to being the happiest and healthiest that we can be in 2017. And that’s something to celebrate! However, we’re not quite finished…

  • Week 1: Work out 5 days a week
  • Week 2: Say sayonara to alcohol
  • Week 3: Nix processed foods and white sugar
  • Week 4: Lights out by 11p.m.
  • Week 5: Take 10,000 steps a day for a solid week

We have one last challenge for our LaurenConrad.com readers: take 10,000 steps a day for an entire week. Now we know that not everyone has a Fitbit to track their steps, but we discovered that our iPhones work just as well. Just open your Health app and click the Activity tab and it’ll tell you just how many steps that you’ve taken in a day. Don’t have a way to track your steps at all? There are plenty of ways to get your blood pumping and feet moving! Opt to take the stairs any chance you get, take a walk before work, on your lunch break, and in the evening. Stand up and walk around when you’re on the phone or park a little bit farther away when you’re heading to the grocery store or running errands. Tweaking your everyday activities to fit in a few more steps will benefit you more than you know!

Before we head out on our last week of challenges, we just want to thank all our lovely readers for following along with our Jumpstart January posts. We’ve gotten such a positive response to this year’s challenges that we can wait to see how we can improve our health in the months to come!

Will you be taking 10,000 steps a day with us this week?

Great idea, and definitely not an easy goal to meet, but hitting 10,000 steps sure makes you feel better! 🙂

I upgraded my Fitbit Flex to the Alta and have been LOVING it. My husband and I each have one, so we can compete (though I’m always crushing him, haha). If I can’t get 10,000 a day, I at least try to have a 10,000 steps/day average for the whole week. 🙂

great read! I have a lot of plans to get into shape this year! I have read in the Consumer Health Digest that starting a simple routine can jump start that. Thanks for this, now I have a new routine to follow 🙂

  • Way to go!! This we LOVE to see 🙂

  • My husband and I both got fitbits for Christmas We did great when we were traveling over break, but now that we are home in our routines it’s way more difficult than I thought. And I’m a teacher! This is a great challenge.
