They say that fashion repeats itself, and boy has 2016 been the year of multiple decade revivals. Being a 90s baby myself, I’ve been embracing the comeback of both overalls and chokers. Not to mention rocking the double buns in my hair like my girl crush, Scary Spice. Let’s zero in on another decade—the 70s. Wide leg trousers and faux suede have been taking the scene by storm! And today, our latest Chic of the Week knows how to modernize the 70s trend with this next outfit. Keep scrolling to see a new take on the coveted denim skirt and cropped sweater that I can’t wait to see more of this season…

Congrats to our latest Chic, Amanda Elizabeth!

Can't get enough of this 70s inspired look

70s inspired chic

I love how Amanda Elizabeth is taking the best elements of the 70s and putting a modern twist on them. Faux suede espadrille wedges, an embellished cropped sweater, and a classic denim skirt really hint at decade while simultaneous staying on trend. Plus, she’s showing us how to transition this outfit from summer to early autumn. Just add a long line vest and floppy hat! Here’s what Amanda Elizabeth had to say about her look…

The reason why I love this outfit is because the denim skirt trend revival was something I was initially steering clear of. It just reminded me a little too closely of my college fashion days of a denim mini skirt with platform wedge flip flops and I just couldn’t do it…I loved how this skirt was a fresh update with the longer length, button front details, and the high waist. I paired it with the crop sweater with the metal eyelet details and my favorite summer espadrilles. Shot against one of the newest murals where I live in St. Petersburg, Florida, it pulled the entire outfit together of the totally wearable 70s vibe. Plus, both pieces are incredibly affordable! I wanted someone to look at this and feel like this was an outfit that they could recreate and become inspired by it.

Thanks for sharing your chic 70s outfit with us, Amanda Elizabeth!
