Beauty Note: Mermaid Beauty Tips

Get mermaid hair, skin, and nails, via these tips from Lauren Conrad

Mermaids may not be real, but who said that you can’t at least dress the part? Like most little girls, growing up at the beach gave me aspirations of becoming a real life mermaid. Unfortunately, I quickly learned that these creatures were fictional. As an adult, I still find myself admiring their effortless beach waves, sunkissed skin and shimmering glow. Since we’re right in the heat of summer, I decided to put together a list of beauty products to help all of us achieve that sought-after mermaid look. Below is the ultimate mermaid-inspired beauty product list. From sea salt sprays to dewy highlighters, sunscreen and everything in between, this list is sure to bring out the mermaid in all of us. Read on to see how you can become a summer goddess, one beauty product at a time…

For Mermaid Hair

Mermaids are notorious for their natural beachy waves. Us pure mortals have to try a bit harder to create this perfectly imperfect look. I’m a big fan of sea salt sprays to help achieve a beachy wave with just the right amount of texture. Another hair product that I personally love to spritz on before I head outside is hair sunscreen. Because let’s face it, your skin isn’t the only thing that needs sun protection!

For Mermaid Skin

Being out in the water and sun all day long seems to only make mermaids that much more luminescent. Unfortunately for us, we have to do all that we can in order to preserve our skin and protect it from harmful sunrays. There’s nothing wrong with using a little self-tanner or bronzer to set a beautiful base tan without the damage. Highlighters are another great way to amplify your beachy look by adding a hint of shimmer. For added glow, brush your shoulders and collarbone with highlighter before heading outside.

Remember to always coat your entire body with sunscreen before sun exposure. My favorite way to rejuvenate after a long day in the sun has to be an all over body scrub followed by an after-sun moisturizer. It’s an added bonus if your lotion has a hint of a tropical scent. Your skin will thank you later!

For Mermaid Nails

No mermaid beauty tip would be complete without a good manicure. Polishes with a hint of glitter are always mermaid approved. Stick to different shades of turquoise and sea foam green as well as pale pinks. If you’re going for a more natural look, nude is always a great choice and is reminiscent of sandy beaches.
