Each season I like to go through my essentials and see what needs to be restocked and reorganized. While springtime usually calls for a bit of spring-cleaning, summer is always my time to take account for what needs to be replenished or replaced. Since summer means three months of spending time outdoors and potentially traveling, I like to make sure that I am well prepared for what the season has to offer. That usually includes stocking up on fresh bottles of sunscreen, a new bikini (or two!), and even making time to tackle my growing reading list.
If you’re in the mood for some pre-summer prep, keep scrolling to see which 10 items you should be restocking before the season starts…
The most important way to kick off summertime is to restock your sunscreen products. I can’t stress enough how important it is to protect your hair, skin, and lips against harmful UV rays. Premature aging? No thank you. Did you know that sunscreen also has an expiration date? Save yourself the sunburn and toss out any bottles that are overdue. Below I’ve picked out my favorite sunscreen products that will keep your hair and skin healthy and happy all season long.
2. A Sturdy Weekender Bag
Summer is for taking trips, even if it’s just a short weekend getaway. My go-to bag when it comes to packing lightly has to be my overnight bag from The Little Market. It’s roomy enough to fit a few outfits in and petite enough to throw in the overhead compartment when I’m traveling. Plus it comes in multiple shapes, sizes, and colors. What’s not to love?
3. Sea Salt Spray
If you can’t make it to the beach, let your hair at least look the part… Beachy waves are my absolute favorite and so much easier to achieve than you think. Whenever I’m styling my hair I love to use John Frieda’s Beach Blonde Sea Waves Salt Spray. Sea salt spray gives your hair a boost in texture that looks like you just stepped off the sand. If you’ve never used it before be sure to watch this tutorial.
My go-to summer shoe is definitely flip-flops. Don’t get me wrong, I love a heeled sandal or espadrilles but for everyday activities, flip-flops are a necessity. My LC Lauren Conrad for Kohl’s flip flop collection currently has 16 different colors and patterns to choose from. No matter your outfit, there’s a flip-flop that will match accordingly!
5. A Good Book
I love spending warm summer evenings reading a good book, especially when I’m on vacation. If you have spare hours to kill this summer and a growing reading list, I recommend grabbing a book and getting lost in another world. Lucky for you, my monthly LaurenConrad.com Book Club is in full swing. Right now we’re reading this book but be sure to check here for other books that we’ve previously read and loved.
This one should be a no-brainer! While my team and I are working on bringing you a full-fledged swimsuit style guide later this month, I thought I’d get your gears going with the options below. Right now I’m personally loving one-piece swimsuits but I’ll always be smitten with an adorable bikini. Which silhouette is your favorite?
7. A New Water Bottle
In addition to sunscreen, staying hydrated during the heat of the summer is a must. It’s easy to forget to drink the correct amount of water during the day so I’m going to let you in on a little secret of mine: Keep a water bottle by your side the entire day and you’ll be amazed at how much water you’ll drink. And click here read up on the trick I like to use to make myself drink more water during the warmer months of the year.
8. Beach Towel
Beach towels get a lot of wear and tear in my household. If you have the same problem, restocking your beach towels is a good idea before summer starts. My current favorite is my striped towel from The Little Market. It’s big enough for a day on the sand with friends and it comes in so many beautiful colors. Plus, each towel from The Little Market is hand-dyed and hand-spun by a talented woman artisan. It doesn’t get much better than that.
9. Fun Pool Floats
The pool floats are back and here to stay! Last year my team and I rounded up the cutest pool floats that we could find in this post, and I’m here to tell you that there are even more this year. Birds, seashells, fruit, you name it, there’s a pool float for it. My personal favorite is the best friend heart pool float set below.
10. A Cute Cover-Up
Your swimsuit needs a cover-up to compliment it! Cover-ups have gotten way more chic in the past couple of years and I love it. Embroidered, tassel adorned, and off the shoulder cover-ups keep catching my eye. How many is too many? Because I’ll take them all!
Do you have any suggestions on things to restock before summer?
I’d love to hear what you come up with in the comments!
