We hope everyone enjoyed our LaurenConrad.com Book Club for Celebrate! Since that selection was such a hit (of course!), we wanted to keep the momentum going and dive right into our next read. After slowly savoring every gorgeous detail of Lauren’s party planning book, we wanted to switch up the pace with a real page-turner—a transcendent love story you won’t want to put down until you’ve finished it.

Ready to hear what it is?

Our next Book Club pick will be The Last Boy and Girl in The World by Siobhan Vivian!

Here is the book’s description:

What if your town was sliding underwater and everyone was ordered to pack up and leave? How would you and your friends spend your last days together?

While the adults plan for the future, box up their possessions and find new places to live, Keeley Hewitt and her friends decide to go out with a bang. There are parties in abandoned houses. Canoe races down Main Street. The goal is to make the most of every minute they still have together.

And for Keeley, that means taking one last shot at the boy she’s loved forever.

There’s a weird sort of bravery that comes from knowing there’s nothing left to lose. You might do things you normally wouldn’t. Or say things you shouldn’t. The reward almost always outweighs the risk.

Almost.

It’s the end of Aberdeen, but the beginning of Keeley’s first love story. It just might not turn out the way she thought. Because it’s not always clear what’s worth fighting for and what you should let become a memory.

The Last Boy and Girl in The World

We are huge fans of Siobhan and can’t wait to get started on her newest novel. It’s not officially out until tomorrow, but you can pre-order it right HERE. Once you get your hands on a copy, read to the end of chapter 18 by Monday, May 9th. On May 9th we’ll have our first “meeting” on the blog, where we’ll ask some discussion questions on the first half of the book, and give you our answers too. And just like all of our LaurenConrad.com Book Clubs, this one will culminate in a live chat… stay tuned, because we’ll announce the live chat date on May 9th.

And while you wait to get started reading, we have a special treat because the author herself put together a playlist inspired by the book. If this playlist is any indication, we love this book already!

The Last Boy and Girl in the World Playlist

I always write to music. And the perfect song can provide such a great shortcut to getting to the emotional nitty gritty of a character or moment. My playlist for The Last Boy and Girl in the World features songs about falling in love, about feeling trapped in your town, about getting in over your head, and about trying to stay afloat through it all.

  1. Head On – MAN MAN
  2. Boyfriend – BEST COAST
  3. Young Folks (cover) – DAWN LANDES
  4. Origins – TENNIS
  5. Head Underwater – JENNY LEWIS
  6. Nightswimming – R.E.M.
  7. Seems Fine – THE CONCRETES
  8. The Suburbs – ARCADE FIRE
  9. Feel It All Around – WASHED OUT
  10. Crying in the Rain – THE CHAPIN SISTERS
  11. Tell Me – VERONICA FALLS
  12. Just Like Heaven – THE CURE
