Tuesday Ten: January Style Tips

With the beginning of the New Year comes the thrill of having a clean slate. Whether it’s working on your health and wellness, improving your workflow, or revamping your wardrobe, anything feels possible. If one of your 2016 resolutions is to step up your style game, then this post is for you. Today I’ve put together a list of my top 10 most coveted pieces for the month of January. You will notice that I’m all about texture lately—feathers, fringe, and faux leather just to name a few. Let’s get started…

Make me blush via Angel Food Style.

1. Make me blush.
It’s obvious by now that I have an affinity for blush. So you can imagine my excitement when Pantone released one of their two colors of the year: rose quartz. When I saw Sophie of Angel Food Style wearing this lightweight trench coat in my favorite hue, I was instantly smitten. I’m making it a note to don pastels throughout the season.

Sparkle and shine via Ariana's Stylebook.

2. Sparkle and shine.
New Year’s Eve may have come and gone, but sparkles are welcome to stick around. I love how Ariana of Ariana’s Stylebook amped up her little black dress with a gold sequin blazer. Why not incorporate some glitz into your everyday life?

Sweet in chiffon via Blush and Blooms.

3. Sweet in chiffon.
One trend that I’m ready to embrace this year is breezy chiffon. I love the romantic, billowy sleeves on Maggie of Blush and Blooms’ button-up blouse. Chiffon has always been a staple in my closet (just take a peek at my LC Lauren Conrad collection for proof) and I’m so glad that this texture is taking center stage.

You're tulle cute via Bun Bun Book.

4. You’re tulle cute.
There are few things more feminine than a tulle skirt. Whether you’re embracing your inner Carrie Bradshaw or prima ballerina, you’re bound to feel ultra feme while wearing one. Carly of Bun Bun Book looks ballerina chic in her tulle skirt and long-sleeved crop top combo.

Fly away in feathers via Girl Meets Glam.

5. Fly away in feathers.
Textured pieces add a little something extra to any outfit. Step out of your comfort zone this month and try incorporating something unexpected to the mix like this pretty pink-feathered skirt. Julia of Gal Meets Glam paired hers with a dainty shoulder bag and long black coat. Can you say classic?

Don't be knit picky via Icing an Glitter.

6. Don’t be knit picky.
When in doubt, layer on those knits. Cold weather is the perfect excuse to break out all of your sweaters, so get to it! Siffat of Icing and Glitter dons a chic monochromatic ensemble with her knit turtleneck and pencil skirt combo. This look is equal parts comfortable and elegant.

Add and edge via Modern Ensemble.

7. Add an edge.
Don’t be afraid to embrace your inner edginess every once in a while. Instead of wearing an all-black outfit, incorporate bold pieces into a casual outfit. Jennifer of Modern Ensemble chose knee-high boots, stacked bracelets and a classic black handbag as her accents of choice.

Lace it up via Polka Dots and Sailor Stripes.

8. Lace it up.
One of my favorite trends this month has to be lace up everything. From the pretty flats on Ashley of Polka Dots and Sailor Stripes’ feet to her lace up blouse, I just can’t get enough.

Be a denim daydream via Shell Chicd.

9. Be a denim daydream.
For me, nothing quite compares to good old-fashioned denim. Jeans will always be my go-to, especially when paired with a casual chambray. Emily of Shell Chicd could not have curated a more perfect look. I love how she completed her look with a baseball cap, slouchy leather bag, and knit sweater.

Fantastic fringe via Walton and Rush.

10. Fantastic fringe.
As I mentioned earlier, this month is all about texture and unexpected details. Fringe has been on my radar for months and this look takes the cake. Devin of Walton & Rush paired a feminine, fringy blouse with a structured moto jacket and ripped jeans. It’s all about balance.
