Tripping: 5 Holiday Travel Hacks

Tripping: 5 Holiday Travel Hacks
It’s no surprise that the holiday season is one of the busiest times to travel. Traveling near or far is a reality for a lot of us during this time of year, and it sometimes takes a car, plane, or train to get there! While I’d like to say that I have traveling down to a science, it can still be a stressful ordeal trying to organize your suitcase, navigate busy terminals, and make it to your destination without any broken Christmas presents.

To help alleviate any pre-travel anxiety, I’ve put together a list of five tried and true holiday travel hacks. From sealing your liquids to fighting that pesky jet lag, I’m sharing practical travel hacks that you can use all year long. Let’s get started…

1. Have Liquids In The Bag

Have you ever confidently sealed your liquids just to unpack and find them in a puddle? Trust me when I say it’s happened to the best of us. One way to make sure that your liquids remain leak-free is to unscrew the top, place plastic wrap over the opening of the bottle, and then replace the cap and screw it on tightly. Once you’ve done that, place your liquids into a reusable storage bag like my favorite ones from Blue Avocado. Their (re)zip Travel Quart is the perfect size storage bag, plus it’s expandable to meet your traveling needs.

2. Roll ‘Em Up

Believe it or not you can save yourself packing space by rolling your clothes instead of folding them. Not only does this allow you fit more in your suitcase but also prevents your clothes from wrinkling. For even more space, use vacuum seal bag and remove any excess air.

3. Beauty Lover Tested, TSA Approved

Packing light has never been my forte especially when it comes to beauty essentials. When it comes to hair products, skincare, and makeup, I like to make sure that all of my bases are covered. But I’ve found the secret to staying intentional about my beauty products without over-packing. And it comes in the form of this insulated travel and cosmetic carrier. Don’t be caught going through security without it! Blue Avocado’s XO(eco) Beauty Kit is a traveling must-have for all of my beauty gurus out there.

4. Keep Jet Lag At Bay

Jet lag is something that all travelers know and loathe. The best ways to fight jet lag and to stay in tiptop shape are to stay hydrated, try to maintain a normal sleep cycle (even if you’re exhausted!), and tweak your habits before making your trip. While you’re still likely to experience at least a little bit of jet lag, these tips have helped me countless times and really do make the adjustment that much easier. 5. Keep It Separated

Keep your dirty laundry and shoes separate from your clean ones. There are few things worse than your dirty shoes rubbing against clean clothes, especially when a washing machine isn’t always an option. Blue Avocado’s Shoe Tote is my favorite way to preserve both my shoes and clothes when I’m en route to my destination. Not only is this shoe tote easy to clean, the interior is made of fleece that shines your shoes while you go. Now that’s pretty neat!
