Sparkling apple cider is one of my favorite drinks this time of year. It reminds me of holidays of my childhood—having a celebratory glass of Martinelli’s on Christmas Eve while the all of the adults in my family adults sipped on champagne. There’s something about the sweet apple flavor and the bubbles that feels so festive. In recent years, I’ve updated this traditional childhood drink of mine by adding a little kick. The end result? Sparkling Pear Apple Sangria. It’s the perfect blend of holiday flavors, celebratory champagne, sweet rosé and cognac, all rolled into one. And the thin slices of apples and pears make this drink truly Pinterest-worthy.
Here’s my recipe so you can make a batch of your own to serve at your upcoming holiday parties. Enjoy!
Sparkling Pear Apple Cider Sangria
- ½ bottle champagne (or any sparkling white wine)
- 6 cups apple cider
- 2 cups cognac
- ½ bottle rosé wine
- 2 apples
- 2 pears
1. Slice your apples and pears lengthwise into paper-thin slices (or as thin as you can get them). Place all slices into a pitcher or drink dispenser.
2. Pour the champagne, rosé, cognac and apple cider over the apple and pear slices. Stir well. Add ice to chill, then serve!
Isn’t it a gorgeous cocktail? Trust me when I say that whoever has a sip will be begging you for the recipe (I’m speaking from experience here!).
