Hi everyone! It’s Lauren Gores Ireland here, and I’m so excited to be sharing a few holiday crafts with you today… ‘Tis the season for getting crafty while cozying up inside, right? If your tree is still feeling a little empty this year, why not make your own ornaments? Today I’m showing you how simple it is to create something festive and chic for your home. Is there anything better than snuggling up with your girlfriends over a cup of hot cocoa, a glue gun, and some Mariah Carey music?! (I didn’t think so!)

I love the idea of using things you already own, from scrabble tiles to cinnamon sticks to last year’s holiday decorations. Check out three of my DIY ornaments below, and then wander over to Lauren’s Lyst for three additional ideas…

Sweet Scrabblers

Sweet Scrabblers - DIY Christmas Ornaments

Here’s What You Will Need:

  • Scrabble pieces
  • fir (greenery)
  • ribbon
  • glue gun

How to create ornaments using Scrabble tiles on LaurenConrad.com

Here’s How to Make Them:

Brainstorm your favorite festive sayings. Piece the letters together with hot glue, and then glue greenery to the top of the saying. Cut approximately 6” of ribbon, and glue the ends to the back of the ornament.

Cinnamon Trees

Here’s What You Will Need:

  • cinnamon sticks
  • rosemary
  • ribbon
  • glue gun

How to create holiday ornaments using cinnamon sticks and rosemary by LaurenConrad.com

Here’s How to Make Them:

Cut four rosemary stems: (2) 4-inch pieces; (1) 3-inch piece; (1) 2-inch piece. Vertically glue a 4-inch piece halfway down the cinnamon stick. Horizontally glue the other pieces of rosemary to the cinnamon stick, going from the biggest piece, to the smallest piece at the top. Cut ribbon (6”) and glue to the back of the ornament.

Sparkly Spheres

Here’s What You Will Need:

  • glass or plastic ornaments (clear)
  • glitter and/or confetti as filler
  • glitter paint pens in holiday colors
  • ribbon

It wouldn't be the holidays without some glitter!

Here’s How to Make Them:

Fill the ornament with glitter about 1/3 of the way (using a funnel helps). Close the ornament and tie a piece of ribbon (6”) around the top hook. Use glitter paint to decorate the ornament however you’d like. Invite an adorable pup to help you hang it on the tree!
