Style Guide: The 5 Workout Staples Every Woman Should Own

It’s easy to get caught up in fitness fads and ultra-trendy workouts. There are endless options when it comes to choosing active wear, workout routines, and even gym memberships. While we have no problem embracing the latest and greatest when it comes to exercising, we decided to strip it down to the basics. No matter where you are in your fitness journey, these five workout staples are evergreen when it comes to gym bag essentials. Keep reading to see our five favorite picks…

1. The Proper Shoes

The first step to a great workout is simply putting your shoes on. A comfortable and durable pair of shoes is essential whether you’re hitting the gym or taking a jog around the block. Proper athletic shoes will help you avoid injury and get the most out of your workout. We suggest investing in a pair of cross trainers if your favorite workouts involve light running and frequenting the gym. 

2. A Sturdy Sports Bra

Let’s face it ladies, there is a time and a place for compromise but buying a sports bra isn’t one of them. The perfect sports bra will keep your girls in place during a workout while also providing comfort and breathability. We always recommend trying on sports bras before you purchase them. There’s nothing worse than being too constricted (or giving yourself black eyes!).

3. Have Your Headphones Handy

We are firm believers that a playlist can absolutely make or break a workout. The second worst thing to a drab workout playlist is forgetting your headphones altogether. We always keep a pair of headphones in our gym bags to help us get our blood pumping and feet moving.

4. The Right Equipment

Working out at home can be just as effective as the gym if you have the right equipment. We aren’t talking about big, expensive machines we’re talking simple tools to help you break a sweat from your own home. Yoga mats, dumbbells and exercise balls are great pieces of equipment to keep around the house in case you can’t make it to the gym. Not to mention each of these items can be used for multiple workouts! Win win.

5. Hydrate, Hydrate, Hydrate

Last but certainly not least, drinking water and staying hydrated should be at the top of your priority list. Consuming enough water during the day is a problem that plagues even the healthiest people, but we think a cute and functional water bottle can help fix that! If you’re going to keep one item from this list by your side, let it be this one!
