Tuesday Ten: July Style Tips

There’s something about the month of July that always gets me inspired style-wise. There are certain pieces in my closet that only feel appropriate to wear during the warmest months of the year. These include all of my little white dresses, my favorite bikini/cover-up combos and of course my reds, whites and blues. Since I’ve already covered some of my favorite patriotic pieces, today I’m going to be giving you some style inspiration for the rest of the month. From florals to flamingoes, see if you can try them all…

1. Show your LWD some love.
This time of year, I always say that I love wearing my whites. And that especially applies to little white dresses. You really can’t get more summery than that! Make like Kelly Golightly above and wear your favorite LWD this month.

2. Go mad for plaid.
Styling your plaid pieces is a great way to channel your inner prep this summer. Makes sure to choose a print that comes in pretty sorbet colors like Ashley did above to lighten up your plaid palette.

3. Soak up the sunshine.
Adding a little sunshine to your summer ensemble is a surefire way to brighten up your wardrobe. Take a note from Courtney and try pairing a cheery crop top with a high-waisted pencil skirt for an outfit that says “cosmopolitan charm.”

4. More florals, please.
You all know by now that I’m a big believer in the feminine effect of florals. I love this pattern all year round, but it feels particularly fitting in the summer. And I love Dani Song’s idea of pairing a floral dress or romper with a denim jacket to take your look from daytime to dinner.

5. Never underestimate the classics.
It doesn’t really get more classic than a white button-down paired with denim. In the cooler months, I opt for classic denim blue jeans. But in the summer, I like to shorten my hemlines and cool down with denim shorts. Add some aviators, black flats and a ladylike handbag like Krystal did above and you’ll be ready to go.

6. Flamingo with the flow.
Up until recently, I’ve noticed that pineapples have been all the rage. But lately, it seems like a new summer star is taking over: the flamingo! I plan on scooping up anything and everything that showcases these pretty pink birds… Including this fabulous skirt on Julia.

7. Show your shoulders.
It seems like off-the-shoulder tops are at the top of everyone’s wishlist this moment. And for good reason—they’re flirty and fun in all the right ways. I have a few of these tops on my own wishlist (including the one Jenny is wearing above), so take a peek below.

8. Become a beach babe.
If you thought I was going to go through this entire Style Tips post without mentioning swimwear…think again! July is the month that was made for channeling your inner beach babe. Whether that means donning a itsy bitsy bikini or splurging on a sophisticated one-piece, now is the time to strut your stuff.

9. Curate your casual wear.
While off-the-shoulder tops and bikinis are summer staples, I find that I spend most of my time keeping comfortable in casual clothes (don’t we all?). Stay chic in jeans, lightweight blouses and cute flats like Megan of The Quintessetials.

10. Have fun with fringe.
I love the look and texture of fringe. And while it does tend to remind me of festival season, it’s a great trend to carry on into summer. These gorgeous heels on Sara of Style MBA are the perfect combination neutral tones to go with your summer skirts and dresses.
