10 fun things to add to your summer bucket list!

Each year when summer rolls around, we make it a habit of putting together the ultimate bucket list. And this year we decided to put a new spin on this tradition of ours. Below is a summer to-do list consisting of fun activities we hope to fit into our schedules this season. From taking a digital detox to playing tourist for a day, we think you’ll like what we came up with.

Take a peek below to see the 10 things we’ll be trying this summer…and consider taking the plunge along with us!

1. Try Some New Recipes.
There’s nothing we love more than spending quality time with friends and family and bonding over a delicious meal. It’s time to fire up the grill (with a cocktail in hand, of course) and test out some seasonal recipes. Luckily, summertime brings some of the yummiest and freshest produce. We encourage you to take advantage of what this season has to offer by checking out your local farmer’s market and creating a dish full of fresh fruits and veggies.

2. Try a New ‘Do.
This season is the perfect time to get out of your comfort zone, especially when it comes to your beauty routine. That doesn’t always mean making a drastic change by chopping off your locks (although long bobs sure are in for summer). Keep your hair off of your neck and learn how to style your hair with the best warm weather hairstyles. Remember: Protecting your hair from harsh sun rays is just as important as taking care of your skin. Cover it up, hydrate, and keep it fresh!

3. Try a New Workout Routine.
Summer is the perfect time to get up and get moving. And as much as we love the gym, there are plenty of other ways to get your blood pumping outdoors during the warmest months of the year. Hiking, biking, and swimming are just a few ways to have fun and work out at the same time. If you’re saving money for other summer activities, we’ve compiled a list of our favorite ways to work out for free. Or, take a tip from the Tone It Up girls and take your workout to the beach.

4. Try to Go Without Your Phone.
Alright social media gurus… we’re even talking to you! Call it a bad habit, but in this day and age it seems impossible to go without your phone for even an hour. If we’re being honest, all of us on Team LC are completely guilty of this habit too. This summer we’re challenging you (and ourselves) to go phone-free. For an hour, a day or even an entire weekend—you decide what works best for you. Take that extra time to rest, do something fun, or soak in sweet moments that are all too fleeting.

5. Try a Change of Scenery.
Let’s face it, we’re all creatures of habit. We have our favorite coffee shops, nail salons, spots on the beach, and places we go with our friends. So how about mixing it up a bit this summer and promising to step outside of our comfort zones? Swap out one of your regular go-to neighborhood spots for a place you’ve never been before and soak it all in. If you live in the city, consider taking a road trip to a more rural location, and vice versa.

6. Try Your Hand at a New Hobby.
Have you been itching to pick up a camera, take an art class, or learn how to decorate pastries? We know that not everyone has the entire summer off, but finding time out of your busy schedule to learn something new can be both exciting and rewarding. Spend your free time doing something that you enjoy and are interested in. When the summer comes to an end, you’ll find that picking up a new hobby was totally worth it.

7. Try Writing It Down.
We’re pretty big believers in snail mail, cute stationery and pretty notebooks. While we fill most of them with daily to-do lists, it’s nice to have a notebook solely dedicated to journaling and setting goals. Spend part of your summer daydreaming and documenting all of the adventures you’ll be going on. Write letters to your bestie who’s studying abroad or send a sweet thank you to someone who inspires you.

8. Try Being A Tourist
Whether you’ve got your passport in hand or a paper roadmap, we encourage you to feel like a tourist at least once this summer. We’ve all heard about sightseeing in your own city, so why not actually try it out? Indulge in all of the best local restaurants, take a guided tour through a museum, or have your picture taken in front of that statue you’ve passed a million times. Grab your camera and explore!

9. Try A Mini Renovation
If you follow us on Pinterest you know that we’re pretty interior design crazy. But in our real lives, we find that it’s easy to sweep home improvement projects under the rug, especially when we’re busy. But with summer upon us, there’s no better time than the present to dust off those picture frames and create the gallery wall of your dreams. If you’re on a budget, rearrange your living room to create a whole new space. Organize your space and make it feel brand new all over again. The possibilities are endless.

10. Try to Conquer A Fear
Last but not least, we encourage you to take the ultimate plunge this summer and conquer a fear. It doesn’t matter if your fears are big or small, you’ll be so proud of yourself for tackling them head-on. This might look like jumping in the ocean for the first time, going out in public without any makeup on for an entire day, or finally getting over a toxic relationship. Remind yourself that you can do it. We believe in you!

What’s on your bucket list this summer?

We’d love to hear what you’re up to in the comments!

  • fabulous post and very doable for everyone! I’d suggest not only several times during the summer, but any time anyone feels discoruaged and needs to put energy and freedom back in their lives.

This list has all been done before but it made us wonder why we haven’t done and followed it. I am particularly interested in #7, because if I would be in the receiving end of a handwritten note, I’d be elated. It just means that I am special and I am worth the time and effort.
