In the age of Instagram, Pinterest and Snapchat, we find ourselves constantly snapping photos. A beyond beautiful sunset? Capture it! Two friends tying the knot? Take a video of the first dance! Your dog is looking cute as can be? Take at least 15 photos. OK, maybe that last one is reserved for some of our animal-obesssed editors, but you get the picture (pun intended). The point is, these days we have so many great moments stored on so many different devices, that it’s hard to keep track. There are the photos and videos you have on your computer… and then the ones you’ve snapped on your phone or tablet. It’s enough to drive a girl crazy. Since we’re all about organization here at LC.com, we’ve been searching high and low for the best way to gather all of these pretty pictures and sentimental videos in one place.
Well, we think we’ve found the solution… Enter Lyve, an amazing free service (that we here at LC.com happen to be obsessed with) that lets you gather, collect, organize and view your entire digital photo collection right from your phone. Yes, hundreds of thousands of photo stored on all of your devices viewable right on your phone. No more searching through your computer’s archives for the perfect #tbt photo! With Lyve, you can easily see all the photos and videos taken on a certain day, week or month from years past. This app has totally changed the way we stay organized, which is pretty important when you’re blogging!
So without further ado, here is the Smart Girl’s Guide to Organizing Your Photos…
All In One Place
When it comes to photo organization, the most important thing is to be able to access every single one of your photos and videos in one place. And as of late, this has become a not so simple task. Before, our thousands and thousands of photos were scattered between desktops, iPads, iPhones, iPods, storage devices, shared streams, and even on our friend’s phones. With the Lyve app, you can easily sync up all of those photos, and make each and every one viewable right from your phone! And it’s so easy, which we love. Just download the Lyve app on your phone, set up an account, get the app on your computer (and any other devices you have pictures and videos on) and you’re good to go. You can also pull photos and videos stored on Dropbox or Google Drive. And it doesn’t stop there. Not only can you get your photos all in one place, but you can also edit, filter, tag and share them. Genius!
Get Rid of Duplicates
Not too many things annoy us more than duplicate photos taking up precious hard drive space. It might not sound like a big deal, but when you snap as many photos as we do, every single megabyte matters. Which is why we love Lyve! The app knows that you probably have the same photos scattered on several of your devices, so it does the dirty work for you and automatically de-duplicates the photos in your entire collection. Such a time (and space) saver!
Back It Up
Photos and videos are precious memories, and there’s nothing worse than accidentally deleting or misplacing your favorites. So, always back everything up! So even though Lyve pulls all your photos and videos from all your different devices into one smart, easy to use app, it’s so important that you back up these precious memories. We started using the Lyve Home, and it’s our new go-to when it comes to backing up our photo archives. After you’ve downloaded the app and created an account, you can purchase the Lyve Home and simply log into your account. Lyve Home is a private and secure Wi-Fi enabled, 2 terabyte smart drive that syncs and backs up all the photos and videos from your Lyve account. You can also directly attach a USB hard drive or SD card (think GoPro videos) to the Lyve Home which will directly feed them into the Lyve app, and also back them up for you.
It also helps with phone storage, which has been a game changer for us. Once you download the Lyve app on all of your devices and your photos have been successfully copied to the Lyve Home, you can delete any photos and videos from your phone’s camera roll, freeing up valuable space so you can snap away without ever getting that pesky “you are out of storage” notification. And, you’ll always have the full resolution photos and videos available on your phone or other device via the Lyve app.
Make It Shareable
The most fun part of snapping photos is sharing them, which Lyve has covered! After you download the free app, you can use their Mix feature to share and capture photos with friends and family from both public and private events.
This amazing feature lets you seamlessly share pictures and videos among a group of any size, anywhere, without ever having to ask, “Can you send me that photo?”
And it’s so easy to make a Mix. Just open up the Lyve app and tap the “Mix” menu option. You can create either a private or public Mix, and invite your friends to join. If it’s public, anyone within 1 km of you can join your mix, which is great for concerts and weddings. Also, you can invite anyone to join the Mix through email, text, Twitter or Facebook so if someone can’t be at your wedding, they can follow the festivities via the Mix and even share old photos with the partygoers at the wedding. You can also download any of the photos or videos that someone else posted to your Mix. It’s such an easy way to share your pics with everything you’re with, without having to send out a mass text message or email.
And now it’s time for the giveaway!
