Hello, ladies! I loved sharing my beachy waves tutorial with you last month, and now I am excited to share a brand new beauty video. Today, we’re talking about my favorite way to dress up your beachy waves: the beachy side braid.
While it’s not summer quite yet, a beach-inspired hairstyle is on trend all year long. And my go-to way to add a little something extra to my everyday beachy waves is to add a sweet little side braid. It’s perfect for day or night, and adds a little something special to your beauty look. It’s also great when you’re trying to grow out bangs, which I’ve done a few times… You can get this look no matter what length, color or texture your hair is. It’s one of the most versatile styles around, and also one of the easiest to do.
But before we get into the step-by-step of the side braid, let’s talk about giving yourself perfect beachy waves, which are the foundation for this hairstyle. You’ll want to start with textured, tousled hair, which I get by using John Frieda’s Beach Blonde™ Collection. I’ve been using this line of hair products for years, and am so glad that they brought the Beach Blonde collection back. Now, time for the side braid tutorial… Take a peek, and keep reading below to see which products I used to get the look + RSVP for my Twitter chat:
Believe it or not it only takes two products to perfect this beachy, braided look. John Frieda® Beach Blonde® Sea Waves™ Sea Salt Spray has become the most used product in my beauty routine. And you don’t have to be a blonde to use it. It’s great for brunettes, redheads, and everything in between. Whether you use it on wet or dry hair, it will give your tresses a little extra texture, which is key in creating a beachy wave. It also has a coconut smell that reminds me of summer, which I love.
To lock in your beachy braid, you’ll want to finish off the look with John Frieda’s Sheer Blonde® Crystal Clear Hairspray. I love this product because it doesn’t make your hair sticky, which most hairsprays do. It gives your locks a touchable, flexible hold that you can run your fingers through. Also, it has a non-yellowing, non-dulling formula that keeps your blonde bright and shiny. It’s the perfect way to set any hairstyle for all of you beach blonde ladies out there.
And if you like these products, I have a feeling you’re going to love the entire John Frieda® Beach Blonde® collection. It’s all I use lately! My favorites are the Beach Blonde™ Cool Dip™ Purifying Shampoo, the Beach Blonde™ Smooth Seas™ Detangling Conditioner, and of course the Sea Salt Spray. With summer coming up, my fellow blondes might want to try out their Beach Blonde™ Sun Streaks™ Lightening Spray. It’s infused with lemon, and helps bring out those beauty blonde highlights using natural sunlight.
Now that you know how to get my beachy waves and my favorite side braid, I want to hear from you! I’ll be live-chatting on Twitter with @JohnFriedaUS on April 21st at 3pm EST, where I’ll be answering all of your questions about how to get beachy hair. To submit a question, just include the tag #JFLiveChat along with your tweet, and make sure you’re following along at @LaurenConrad. I can’t wait to talk about all things beachy hair!
