With Valentine’s Day less than two weeks away, February always makes me feel inspired to inject a little extra romance into my style. When it comes to ladylike style staples, you know by now that there are few things I love more than bows and lace. But since this month is transitional (or, for some of you readers, still the dead of winter), I’m focusing my wardrobe on lush furs, sequined blazers, and pops of pastel pink.
To give you some style inspiration of your own this month, I’ve put together my 10 favorite romantic and fun style ideas to try. Here they are…
1. Blush hour.
Most people who know me well know that my all-time favorite color is blush. The great thing about this color is that it can be worn during any season. Whether it comes in the form of a bikini or a dramatic turtleneck like the one above, you can never go wrong with this pale pink hue.
2. Calling it slits.
Judging from the Spring 2015 runways, midi skirts are predicted to be one of the biggest trends to try. I love the idea of a sleek pencil skirt with a sexy skirt in the front. Pair it with a casual long sleeve and a slouchy jacket to offset the va-va-voom.
3. Find your sidekick.
Every girl needs a great, go-to crossbody bag in her closet. When you find the right one, it becomes the bag you reach for every time you’re heading out for an evening with friends, a dinner date, or a wild night out. I adore this black leather Gucci number.
4. Give it a twirl.
There’s really nothing more romantic than a floral dress with a full skirt (especially one that twirls fabulously). I adore the print of the one above (available here from Anthropologie), because the colors are just so Valentine’s Day.
5. Solemate searching.
Spend this Valentine’s Day with your solemates…that is, your favorite pair of shoes. Because what good is a great date without a great pair of shoes? Right when I laid eyes on the two-toned pair above, I knew I had to find them and have them in my closet.
7. Get your shine on.
I support wearing sequins all year round, but they’re especially festive when they carry over from the holidays to Valentine’s Day. Wear your sequined piece with a pop of red for the ultimate romantic party look.
8. Pretty in pearls.
Pearls make for the ultimate ladylike bauble. I’ve talked about pearl earrings and even pearl sunnies in Style Ideas of the past, but this month I’m loving the look of a bold pearl statement ring. Or, why not four?
9. A bucket of fun.
Bucket bags are here to stay! For now at least. I love the look of this feminine silhouette, and there are so many pretty styles out there right now. Invest in a bucket bag and I assure you that you will wear it for months to come.
10. You’re the bee’s knees.
This winter marked the “ripped knee phenomenon,” in which nearly everyone started wearing jeans with ripped and destroyed areas around the knees. I actually love this look, especially with a classic, oversized button down.
What trends are you incorporating into your wardrobe this month?
