Hello, fellow bookworms. With all of the snow over on the East Coast, I’ve gotten a lot of requests to get our next LC.com book club going. After all, curling up with a good book is a pretty good way to ride out a storm in my opinion. Never mind the fact that I’ll be reading this one poolside in our 80-degree California winter… (Try not to be too jealous, East Coasters!)
This LaurenConrad.com book club is going to be extra special for one very important reason. It will be the first ever book club where the author will be participating too! I’ll be asking her a few interview questions at our first check-in, and then she’ll be joining me for our live chat at the end. Exciting stuff!
Ready to hear what book we’re reading? Drumroll, please…
I cannot wait to start this book! Here’s the plot description for To All The Boys I’ve Loved Before by Jenny Han:
What if all the crushes you ever had found out how you felt about them…all at once? Lara Jean Song keeps her love letters in a hatbox her mother gave her. They aren’t love letters that anyone else wrote for her; these are ones she’s written. One for every boy she’s ever loved—five in all. When she writes, she pours out her heart and soul and says all the things she would never say in real life, because her letters are for her eyes only. Until the day her secret letters are mailed, and suddenly, Lara Jean’s love life goes from imaginary to out of control.
Sounds like such a fun read, doesn’t it? And so perfect for Valentine’s Day.
Here’s a little bit about the author, Jenny Han, who will be chatting along with me for our final book club discussion:
Favorite dessert: Passion Fruit anything
Favorite superhero: Buffy the Vampire Slayer
Favorite time of day: 8:00pm
Favorite article of clothing: knee socks
Favorite book: I Capture the Castle by Dodie Smith
Favorite fictional father: Atticus Finch
If I could have any job, I would pick Oprah’s best friend or Santa’s helper. Also, nail polish namer, TV writer, White House party planner, ice cream tester.
If I were a fruit, I would be a peach.
If I could have any superpower, I would pick the power of charm.
Weaknesses include: cookbooks, boys with dimples, biscuits with butter and jam, an afternoon nap, popcorn at the movies.
Special talents/abilities include: dialogue from the movie Clueless, the perfect brownie, board games, neat handwriting, 90s song lyrics, nicknaming people and stuffed animals.
And for all of you Jenny Han fans, there’s even more exciting news. We’re sharing an exclusive reveal of the cover of the sequel to To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before, out May 26th! You’ll want to read it after you finish this one, we promise…
If you’re going to join my book club, RSVP in the comments and read to the end of Chapter 38 by Monday, February 16th. On the 16th, we’ll be having our first check-in where I’ll ask you some discussion questions and also interview Jenny about the first half of the book. I will also announce the date of the live chat, so start reading and get excited!
