Let’s be real: Sometimes life can get so busy that it gets in the way of having fun. If you’re the type of person who fills their schedule to the brim on a weekly basis (guilty!) it’s important to set aside time to kick back and relax with friends. No matter how busy all of us on Team LC get with work, significant others, and our usual routines, we always try to plan girls nights once a week. In the past we’ve done Takeout Tuesday or game nights, and most recently, we hosted a girl’s wine tasting party….and it was a blast.
While we do love trying new wines, none of us are really expert wine connoisseurs. So, when we planned our wine tasting party, we enlisted the help of Club W, a wine club for our generation. They quizzed us on our personal tastes (do we like citrus? Frappuccinos?), and then sent us bottles of vino based on our preferences. It’s the perfect experience for those of us who love drinking wine but don’t really know how to choose the best bottle out of a huge selection. Club W made our girls evening effortless.
Once our case of wine was delivered to our doorstep, we began to party plan. Here’s how we set up our girl’s evening…
1. Set up your stations.
There’s no need to get too specific here, but it’s good to let your guests know what types of wines you’ll be serving. With the help of one very talented member of Team LC’s calligraphy skills, we made little cards that specified where the bottles of white, red and rosé would be located. We set up wine glasses and made sure there were about three glasses per person so that everyone could try a few different wines.
2. Don’t forget the snacks.
If the best part of a wine tasting party is the wine, the second best part is the snacks. Whenever you’re serving alcohol at a party, it’s a good idea to present your guests with a spread of small bites that complement the beverage you’re serving. We set up a charcuterie board with cheeses, cured meats, berries, and sprigs of mint for cleansing your palate in between wines. You can also serve small bites like bacon wrapped dates, skinny spinach dip, and balsamic roasted cherries. Click here for more of our favorite appetizers. We love how Club W actually recommends what foods go best with which wines. There’s a detailed description of the flavor of each wine on the site, which makes it easy to choose which bottles to try every month, and what to snack on when sipping your vino. They even include a cute wine card for each bottle in your box that explains the flavor profiles, suggested settings and recipe pairings.
3. Atmosphere is everything.
When hosting any type of party, creating a comfortable atmosphere will help your guests truly enjoy themselves. If you live somewhere where the weather is nice this time of year, invite your guests to enjoy their glass of wine outside. Or, you can create a comfortable indoor seating area where your besties can lounge and catch up with each other while sipping. No matter where your wine tasting party is, as long as your guests are comfortable, they will leave feeling happy (and perhaps a little tipsy, too!).
With your stations set up, your snacks ready to go and guests feeling comfy, you will have the makings for a perfect wine tasting evening with your girlfriends. Take our advice and use Club W to make discovering and buying wine effortless. Bottles start at just $13 and monthly shipments start at $39 for 3 bottles. It’s a steal of a deal. And if you’re a girl on the go, Club W even has an app for you to manage your account and check out their latest wines and pairings by just tapping on your screen. It’s wine tasting made simple and fun!
