Nail Files: My Fall Polish Picks

Nail Files: My Fall Polish Picks

Whenever fall rolls around, I like to tone down my manicures with autumn-inspired hues. Usually, that means I steer away from bright colors—like fuchsia, tangerine and blue—and opt for polishes within the gray, purple and burgundy family. If you’re on the hunt for the perfect fall polish, here are five shades that I recommend wearing all autumn long…

Every fall burgundy is a staple in my wardrobe and on my nails. It’s a great autumn “neutral” because it pairs well with everything. The polish above is Essie’s ‘Carry On.’

Navy Sparkle

Whenever I need a festive touch, I reach for a subtly sparkly polish. I like navy glitter because it’s glitzy, but the dark color keeps it from being too frilly. Get the look with China Glaze ‘Meet Me Under the Stars’ or NARS ‘Night Flight.’

Soft Gray

As far as I’m concerned, a soft gray nail is the fall equivalent to summer’s pale pink polish. It’s feminine, subtle, and versatile enough to be worn everyday. Try Essie’s ‘Chinchilly’ to get the look.

Deep Red

Even though it’s bold, red is a versatile color because it can come with so many different undertones. During the fall, I like to opt for more of a cherry red, like the China Glaze ‘Salsa’ polish above.

You may be thinking that green nails are not for you, but you’d be surprised at how flattering and chic olive polish can be. Choose a color that’s more on the gray scale—not bright green—for a modern, fresh look. The polish above is China Glaze ‘Don’t Get Derailed.’

Which of these colors do you like best?
