Hi ladies, it’s Anna from Fash Boulevard again. The Fourth of July is all about flaunting your American pride, soaking up the rays, and relishing the opportunity to be with friends and family. But like all holidays, the roundup of festive soirées brings the added stress of finding the perfect outfit. While the past few years may have helped us become experts at color blocking, the challenge of choosing the right combination of red, white and blue is still a daunting task. I like to stray away from the expected denim shorts and super loud American flag printed apparel, and instead opt for a refined mix of our patriotic color palette.
Below, I’ve rounded up 5 festive ensembles with an array of red, white, and blue selects. Take a peek…
top – Paper Crown Beam Blouse ($193), heels – Apt 9 via Kohl’s, skirt – Gianni Bini (similar here), necklace – Loft
High-low skirts are a perfect way to add some feminine flare to an ensemble without feeling restricted by a hip hugging mini or tight dress.
Add some fun statement accessories to your look for the perfect all-American ensemble fit for a style savvy partygoer
top – TopShop ($30), shorts – Susana Monaco ($165), sandals – ShoeMint ($80), necklace – BaubleBar ($68), earrings – Kenneth Jay Lane ($70), sunglasses – Tory Burch ($165), handbag – Tory Burch ($265)
While everyone will be rocking the cliché denim shorts and flag tank combo, opt for a sophisticated patriotic mix along these lines. Lace scalloped shorts are all the rage this summer, plus, they’re a timeless and stylish denim alternative. Mix your prints and fabric textures for a fun way to incorporate the holiday color palette while still looking on-trend.
pants – Vince ($130), tank – ModCloth ($30), sandals – Levity ($70), headband – Accessorize ($20), wrap Bracelet – BaubleBar ($26), earrings – Chloe + Isabel ($28), backpack – Target ($30), sunglasses – Tory Burch ($165)
Growing up, my family would always pile into the car and head towards the lake so we could spend the evening of the Fourth gazing up at the fireworks. Packing a cute backpack with picnic essentials is a must, and will also add a fresh twist on the usual beach carryall. When you’re going to be lounging on the ground, comfort is key, so don’t slide on anything too tight. To achieve this look, try rocking a comfortable pant in a trendy cut paired with a loose and flattering shirt. Remember, you’ll be sitting a lot when the fireworks start up!
cover-up – 9seed ($128), halter Swimsuit – Anthropologie ($98), sandals – Lucky Brand ($50), tote – Joie ($83), sunglasses – Karen Walker ($280), phone Case – Nunuco Design Co. ($16)
If you’re lucky enough to spend the Fourth of July with your toes in the sand, then patriotic swimwear is the way to go. Opt for a classic blue and white striped suit to stand out from the sea of cliché bikinis. Choose a comfy cover-up you’ll want to flaunt in front of the bevy of cell phone cameras, too (hello, Fourth of July Instagrams!). Then just add a pop of patriotism to your look with a red woven beach tote and a show-stopping phone case you’ll want to splash over social media.
mix tile dress – TopShop ($90), wedge Sandals – Guess ($70), clutch – Tory Burch ($350), watch – Kate Spade ($225), floppy hat – TopShop ($21), sunglasses – Tory Burch ($195), phone case – Nunuco Design Co. ($16)
Just because it’s the Fourth of July that doesn’t mean your apparel is required to include all of the colors of the flag. Opt for a subtly patriotic outfit that incorporates only two of the hues, like this classic blue and white ensemble with a wide brimmed hat to protect yourself from the sun and the ever rising heat.
