New York Fashion Week Highlights

If you’re following us on Instagram, then you probably know that Team LC took a trip to New York for Fashion Week this month. It was a whirlwind four days in the city, filled with fabulous runway shows, backstage beauty coverage, and one very confusing cab ride to Brooklyn (only for Alexander Wang…).

In the fashion industry, everyone is working a few months ahead. So even though it’s only February, designers were showing their Fall 2014 collections. As editors, going to Fashion Week is a great way for us to get a sneak peek of what the next season’s trends are going to be. That way, we can share them with all of you as the season progresses.

In the meantime, here are a few of our favorite moments from the first half of our Fashion Week experience…

Kate Spade

We can always count on Kate Spade for playful and ladylike dressing. How gorgeous are the blush, embellished skirt and jackets?

We swooned over this fancy footwear

A close-up look at the Kate Spade models’ almond shaped nails, which were polished in a sheer beige color called “Naked” by Deborah Lippmann.

Trina Turk

The backstage beauty at Trina Turk was all about the fun, flirty California girl. The makeup artists used Stila cheek, lip and eye products in shades of red and orange to emulate a sunset theme…

The peachy cheek color is Stila Convertible Chee & Lip Duo in Gerbera.

The collection itself took us on a blast from the past. It was very downtown Manhattan meets 1930’s Los Angeles…

Rebecca Minkoff

Rebecca Minkoff is always one of our favorite shows to attend during Fashion Week. This year, the lips and nails were matchy-matchy…

We loved the deep berry lips so much that we made a note to buy the products after the show (for the record, it’s Stila Stay All Day Liquid Lip Color in Amore.)

Take a closer look at the nails and you’ll notice it’s a modern girl’s French manicure. The maroon base is Essie “Bahama Mama” with and the navy tips are “Midnight Cami”

Suno

At Suno, the head hair stylist Odile Gilbert created a look that was sleek and straight (with a golden twist!) using Kerastase Elixir Ultime Oil.

We loved the gold stripe painted straight down the models’ parts…

The nails at Suno might have been our favorite manicure of the whole weekend. They were clear with imperfect gold tips. The gold is Maybelline Color Show Nail Lacquer in Bold Gold. Très chic, no?

Jill Stuart

The eyes were the focal point of the beauty look at Jill Stuart. Lead makeup artist Aaron de Mey layered on Maybelline Eye Studio Master Smoky Eye in violet, navy, and deep emerald for a glam-rock, edgy eye. Then he pressed Baby Lips lip balm on top of the eyelids to give the eyes a smudgy look, “as if the girls did their makeup themselves”…

The hair stylists used a T3 BodyWaver 1.75″ Professional Curling Iron to create big, loose, bouncy curls with middle parts. They described the look as “edgy cool girl.”
