Entertaining is one of my favorite summer pastimes. In fact, most of my summer days that aren’t spent at the beach are spent in preparation for a barbecue or al fresco dinner party. So today I’ll be sharing 10 seasonal hors d’oeuvres that are on my to-try list. From inspired salads to yummy finger food, these light and delicious bites are perfect for a summer soiree or cocktail party on the patio. And if you’re not the one playing hostess, consider bringing one of these simple starters along with you. Dinner party etiquette dictates that you should never show up empty handed, but you also don’t want to bring a dish that might interfere with the menu your host or hostess has planned. Unless you are given specific instructions to bring another item, a simple side dish or appetizer is always the perfect solution. Take a peek at my list below, and be sure to share your thoughts in the comments…

1. Guacamole Deviled Eggs
You may remember that deviled eggs are one of my staple appetizers when I’m entertaining. I’d love to try this summery, California twist.

2. Balsamic Roasted Cherries
The only way to make ripe summer cherries more delicious is my roasting them in a balsamic glaze.

3. Baby Greek Salad
There’s something about dolling bite-sized portions out in individual dishes that makes this salad extra appetizing.

8. Feta With Fresh Herbs
I’ve love a classic cheese plate, but it’s also nice to switch things up for summer. This block of feta with fresh herbs, red chili, lemon, pepper, and olive oil sounds scrumptious.

9. Tomato, Cucumber, Watermelon, and Avocado Salad
If this cubed salad is half as delicious as it is lovely to look at, then I have a feeling I’ll be making it for years to come.

10. Ricotta Crostini
The best thing about this ricotta crostini party idea, is that you don’t have to limit yourself to a single topping. Play around with seasonal options and year-round classics from strawberries and aged balsamic to smoked salmon and dill.
