It’s the first Tuesday of June and you all know what that means—today I’ll be sharing 10 style tips you can incorporate into your wardrobe this month! All of these ideas will make dressing for warm weather fun and refreshing. From flowery sundresses to pretty pastels, check out my June style ideas below…
- Cut it out.
Cut-out dresses and tops were a big hit last summer and, quite frankly, I think they’re here to stay this summer too. Opt for a dress with cut-outs on the side for a flattering effect. And for more tips on how to wear cut-out pieces, read my blog post about the topic by clicking here.
- Pack a pastel punch.
While pastels tend to be a spring color palette, I love wearing them into the summer months as well. Pair pastel jeans with a pastel blouse, or go all-over pastel in a lightweight midi dress.
- Make a sheer move.
Temps are rising, and one of the best ways to beat the heat is by wearing lightweight clothes. Sheer pieces are as lightweight as you can get! I love how an unexpected touch of this material can make a simple top or dress look elegant.
- Wear a fruity pattern.
Fruit patterns are so summery, in my opinion. Take a little blast from the past in fruity fashion this summer à la Stella McCartney’s Spring 2011 collection.
- Try a full-length jumpsuit.
I love the look of this full-pant jumpsuit in a creamy white. It takes a basic summer romper and instantly updates it. Plus, an all-white ensemble is the perfect summer uniform.
- Be pretty in pleats.
For my 9-5 ladies out there who are looking for an alternative to wearing pants every day to the office, try a pretty pleated skirt. Go for one that’s an appropriate length (like this one that skims the ankles) and a pick lightweight silk material that will keep you feeling cool all day long.
- Grab your hat.
I love the look of a hat/sunnies combo for warm summer weekends. Try a chic tan and black Panama hat on for size. As a bonus, you’ll be glad you have it on handy come an occasional bad hair day.
- Get a little nautical.
For those days when you can’t come up with a killer outfit that involves layering, pattern play, and arm parties (which are most days for me), just throw on a classic striped top. Nautical stripes will instantly give your look a polished preppy twist, and you will look put together even when you’re not trying.
- Combine two bright, unexpected colors.
June is a great month for experimenting with bold, colorful patterns. While it may seem loud in the fall, winter and spring, clashing bright orange with deep purple is definitely a “do” in the summer. Experiment to find a color combo that works for you. Lately I’ve been loving highlighter yellow with cobalt blue.
- Try the modern boho look.
I get a little tired of seeing feather earrings and fringed handbags after Coachella has come and gone. However, an understated modern boho look gets my seal of approval. Channel this look by keeping accessories and embellishments at a minimum. I love this blue and white embroidered dress with camel accessories and gold jewelry, captured by Vanessa Jackman.
