Store or Style: The June Edit

I hope all of you have been enjoying my Store or Style series so far. Last month in my May Edit, I showed you which shoes I thought were “in” and which ones were “out.” Today I’m going to do the same, but with handbags. As I’ve said before, a purse is like a woman’s personal sidekick. So it is important to know which purse trends are coming and going. This summer, I have two styles I am going to be storing away in my closet for another season and two styles that I am going to be wearing around the clock. Here they are…
Store or Style: The June Edit
Store: Hobo Bags.
Hobo bags had a big moment a few years ago, but lately this style of handbag has not been my go-to. Unless it’s a hobo style shopping bag or grocery bag, I suggest storing this style for another season.

Store: Fringe Details.
I like fringe on swimwear for summer, but lately I have gotten a little tired of this detail on purses. Fringe will surely come back around again when boho has another big moment though so don’t toss your fringed items. In fact, fringed bags are almost always in style for Coachella! The backpack trend has also come and gone, so the style above is definitely one to retire for a while for more reasons than one.

Style: Structured Ladylike Bags.
I think it’s safe to say that structured ladylike bags will never go out of style in my book. They are a classic style that adds instant polish to any outfit. This summer I’ve been wearing my blush-toned purses frequently. It’s a pretty, soft color that goes with almost everything. To shop the style above, click here.

Style: Bucket Bags.

Bucket bags have recently replaced the backpack trend that was big in the spring. The structure of a bucket bag makes it easy to reach for your purse necessities, and it’s almost as hands-free as a cross-body bag. I love the Kate Spade bucket bag above because of the bow detail. Too cute.

What handbags do you have in heavy rotation this month?

    I love the hobo bag.

I agree 100%. However, I always keep my one “”hobo”” bag out to use when I am going to things like baseball games, or parks. Having something I can throw over my shoulder it so much easier then a “”Ladylike Bag”” with structure or a bucket bag. :) Great entry

  • Tanisha

I have a Guess Tote bag and a large hobo bag I’m loving this season

  • Sarah Dufour

I have a beige Micheal Kors lady like bag that I wear all the time :)

I LOVE the jcrew ladylike bag. SO cute!

  • Ana Sofia

I don’t have any hobo bags or purses with fringe details…so I don’t have any to store 😉 I think this “” Store or Style”” series is very usefull…

  • Brenna Gray

I have the JPK Paris 75 Nylon Bucket bag in Olive green! I love it!

  • Ashley Rizzardo

I love ladylike styled bags. I have a mint one that I carry almost all the time.

  • Kelly Lynne

I recently picked up a blue, black and white block color Apt. 9 purse from Kohl’s.
I love it! White is in style this season and I will never get sick of electric blue.

  • stephaniesstyle

    i am over fringe too.

I would definitely have to agree with the structured bags right now! I think fringe details are cool, but not as in right now. Definitely still fun though!

  • Ashley

Haha I’m currently carrying a red hobo bag with a fringe detail as an accent. I’m usually a few trends behind.. :(

  • suzanne

This is such a fun little post! I still love hobo bags and I think you can make any kind of style work if you want to :) However, it’s fun to follow the trends sometimes!!

I love a structured bag!! It totally dresses up a drab outfit!! Although I admit I like the fringe!

  • Erika Brown

I love my leather satchel from Rebecca Minkoff. Mainly because it fits my old school Erin Condren life planner plus it’s got multiple pockets that are practical for my commuter needs.

  • Harmony

I do not buy designer because the prices are outrageous and unnecessary. Most of them look silly and do not fit people that carry them. I found a faux ostrich cobalt blue ladylike style at a discount outlet for under 20.00!. It is attracting a lot of attention! Its so gorgeous I carry it all the time. I stored my cross body purses unless I have a event during the summer then I use those to be hands free and I have them in a rainbow of colors.

Nothing better than a chic AND practical bag :-)

The most important thing is finding a style that you love. So if the hobo bag suits your personal style, go for it!

    We love mint bags too!!

  • Emma Acomb

Do u know of any other ladylike style bags?

  • Melia Williams

Ladylike bags are a classic and definitely a year around bag! Designer bags may be expensive, but if you choose the right ones…the resale on them is very good and prices are only increasing! I did a Chanel feature!

Honestly, I prefer small cross body bags. They prevent me from carrying way too much stuff. That way I only carry around what I really need (phone, wallet, lipstick). But structured ladylike satchels do come in handy!

Honestly, I still love the Victoria Secret backpacks! I have the fringe one in the color indigo!

  • Dana Ivy

I love the look of the ladylike bag =)

  • Ashley at Sincerely Miss Ash

These are all great bags but I am in love with the ladylike bag!!

  • Sarah

I love the lady like purses, but do prefer small crossbody bags because they prevent you from adding useless stuff to your purse, and I find that in bucket bags you are digging through all the useless stuff just to find the things you really do need.

  • BHAR

    100% agree with you

  • Jade Wright

I’m really loving the bucket bag lately.. A Louis Vuitton one would look amazing…

  • Devin

    My go to is bag

My colbalt blue Ralph Lauren tote bag…….. I love it but I could use a bag change……… The bucket bags are so cute

I also love sachel bags, but I can’t wear them across my body with out messing up my top, and having it over the shoulder hurts

I need a bag that can Handel my iPad, i everything else, a libary book, lip balm, and god knows what else……. I carried a ton of necklaces in my bag at one point to….

Any tips for for guys on bags?????
