Primp Tip: Get Iced

Primp Tip: Get Iced

These hot days of summer might be coming to an end, but I recently read about a pretty cool beauty tip that I wanted to share with you… The idea is to give yourself an “ice cube facial massage.”

It may not sound that particularly pleasant, but running an ice cube over your face has a lot of benefits for your skin. Besides giving your face a dewy, glowing look, the frosty cubes will help to smooth your complexion by combatting fat cells, ease wrinkles, fight acne, and promote blood circulation that will help heal blemishes.

By simply massaging your face with ice cubes for a minute or two before bed, you will essentially be giving yourself a mini facial. (Just be sure to wrap the cubes in a paper towel, or a baggie as suggested by member Tiffani Stuart, because applying them directly to your skin can cause delicate blood vessels to break.) For an added “ahh” to this spa-inspired treatment, try freezing your cubes with watermelon, lemon, or rose. Getting iced never sounded so good…

Are you going to give this cool trick a try?

If you have an out of the ordinary beauty trick that you love, share it in the comments below. I’ll feature my favorite idea in an upcoming blog post!

XO Lauren

P.S. If you have any beauty questions, leave your request in the comments below…you might just see it in an upcoming blog post too!

I love this idea Lauren and can’t wait to try it!! Something I heard a long time ago and actually did this for a while is to boil water over the stove and let the steam hit your face for a few minutes. It’s suppose to make your skin really clear and glowing. Cindy Crawford said she used to do this. Maybe give that a try as well! I loved it:)

  • Sarah Heckle

I’d give it a try during the summer, but just last night it got COLD here! One out-of-the ordinary trick is to put tea bags over your eyes. They’re supposed to reduce puffiness and make your eyes look younger! And they say that different kinds of tea (black, green, etc) have different properities and effects. So cool! – little floral dress + leggings

i would love to add lavender or rose to make these ice cubes! especially in the cute heart shapes!

  • Danni

Great tip Lauren. I was wondering if you had any ideas for fine hair. Basically I am looking for an easy updo for fine hair that I can wear at the office? Any suggestions?

Great tip! I have one for clear skin everyday, it’s nothing extraordinary but a good one to add to a skincare regime! Read about it here:

Super cool idea! It sounds very refreshing, too. I love mixing 1 T. honey, 1 t. each cinnamon and nutmeg and smoothing it on my face, knees, and elbows for about 20 minutes. The facial mixture is SO relaxing from the grit you feel but the smell is the best!

Also, it is fun to have a girl’s night in and grab a few packaged facials from the store to use on each other. (:

Hi, I love anything that is skincare related and I often buy A LOT of skincare stuff to recreate that “”facial/spa”” effect in my home. This is a cool- cheap- thing to do that won’t break the bank. Thanks. Sometimes I also put one of my cloth facial masks into the fridge before applying. That gives it a smiliar cooling effect as the ice cubes. I list my masks here:

  • Tiffani Stuart

I would think that putting the ice in a plastic baggie would work better than a paper towel. I can easily see the paper towel melting through and leaving all kinds of pieces on your face. Hmph… Interesting, though…

I love the sound of this!! I am going o try this tonight before bed. I would love to learn about more facials. I love doing at home facials cuz they really work for me and I love the results. Also, I would love to know more about keeping hair healthy. I love to do all that I can!

For a cheap easy scrub use baking soda. Alone or mixed with your usual face cleanser it smooths and polishes your skin and it’s completely fragrance free. I use it all the time!

  • Chris Elliott

I do this all the time right after a baking soda mask, I get a tablespoon or so of baking soda and mix it with water to make a thick paste coat your face and neck with it and let it dry then wash it off and ice it. Totally calming and refreshing!

  • Cassandra Cupo

Does anyone know of any anti-aging creams that aren’t so oily? I’ve tried a bunch of things especially in the summer because I’m a beach bunny. I hate to admit it, but I’m a sun worshipper. I know it’s so unhealthy but the beach and sun make me the happiest so I’m not going to avoid it. However, I try my best to keep my skin as healthy as possible by lathering on sun repair treatments and anti-aging creams. They all make me breakout. Any suggestions?!

  • Manon Powrie

Going to try this! Looks interesting and from the comments seems good :)

  • Gabby Vigre

This remedy sounds like a great idea! Along with my favorite beauty tip! Teeth are a huge thing! When you smile at somebody, or talk to someone you are exposing your teeth! So white not make them sparkle? Cheap, and painless? Sounds great! Use your regular tooth paste, and tooth brush. Just add peroxide, and your teeth will be so much whiter in just one brushing! My dentist told me that brushing with peroxide also helps prevent cavities! It’s a win win! :)

  • Cristy Gonzalez

this sounds like a great idea! ill try it tonight.

  • Kate Noto

It sounds really cool. I just might try it.

  • Charnele Michel
  • Ashlei Healy

sounds cold! but ill try it tonight!

  • Ellie

I’m trying this out tomorrow night!

  • Nicole Murphy

I tried this for the first time last night, and I have acne regularly unfortunately. I used my normal face wash and I used the Get Iced tip from Lauren’s page and over night my acne was almost completely cleared up! I was shocked! Thank you so much for the trick!!

    • Nikol

You can also try Lavender essential oil for acne scars :)

      Look up some recipes…works wonders.

  • Chi

I’ve red blemishes on my face due to a slight acne problem and I tried this tip last night. Of course my acne is not completely cleared up but the redness is all gone! I will definitely keep doing this every night before going to bed!!

  • love_lexih

I have a question pertaining to hair care… Why does my hair all of a sudden have fly always from the roots? They just stand up on top of my head or to the side and it is very annoying! I have not done anything else to my hair. I have been using Herbal Essence Long Term Relationship shampoo (fusion of red raspberries and Brazilian silk) and nourishing coconut milk conditioner by Organix for some time now. But I am a part time model and I don’t know if I have damaged hair or what… What products can I find at drugstores that will help me with this problem?? Thanks!

    • Brooke

Hi I am a hairstylist, it is probably just your natural hair that sheds everyday growing back. I would try a different conditioner though. If you like the organix line the biotin one is nice as well as the macadamia one. Just make sure you’re combing your hair with a wide tooth comb starting from the ends carefully working your way to the roots.

  • Shannon Burke

I loved this, I was a shock to the system but my skin feels amazing

  • Alexis Olechno

i can not wait to try this out tonight. this site is amazing and eye opening.

  • MelLY

I’m going to try this out tonight!

  • Yen Pham

dont they make your skin get red though?

  • Hanny R

It does, but the redness will go away shortly.

  • Hanny R

I finally tried the past couple weeks and it def helped some of my blemishes (it zap one out and decrease the size of another). I did the green tea ice cube and i loved it.

  • Alba Cuci

Love this! I actually do this in the morning when I have gotten less than 8 hrs of sleep and my face is supper puffy and red!

  • Brynn Andre

Awesome. I want to experiment with green tea or other teas.

  • purplesmiley22

Putting aloe Vera on ur face is another home remedy that makes your skin softer
    It’ also helps against acne

  • Tina

The Body Shop carries a lotion called Hemp for about $20.00. It works really good on dry hands! Very good quality :)

  • Jenna Yarbrough

I’m going to try it when I get home! I’m at my mom’s work right now..

  • Jenna Yarbrough

Really? How long do you keep it on and when do you remove it?

  • purplesmiley22

I usually put it on my face and it dries after a while it depends how much aloe vera you put on your face

  • Jenna Yarbrough

OK. I will just remove it with hot water.

  • Courtney Pfligler

Using honey and cinnamon as a daily facial cleanser is great! Instead of other ones that you can buy at the store that have all these added chemicals and perfumes that can cause your pores to get clogged or for you to break out, the honey and cinnamon is great and natural! I just have a separate little bottle of honey and cinnamon next to my sink for when I wash my face. Just put a little bit of honey in the palm of your hand and mix a sprinkle of cinnamon into it and there you go! Add some sugar for a scrub too

Yeah you can wash it off with luke warm or warm water that’s up to you, I hope this helps

  • Tara

I’m confused by when in my routine I should do this. After washing and before moisture? Like a toner? After moisturizer?

  • Selena

Can I massage it in the morning or when I’m back from school?

  • Erika

I want to freeze lemon juice and rub it directly on my face as an ice cube, will that do more wonders than just the ice? Thank you!

  • Mia

WOW! This trick is amazing! Its super easy and fast! Helped me sooo much! THANKS!

  • Alice Pasquini

Washing you face before hand with a gentle cleanser and cold water before bed and right as you wake up helps too. And the use a moisturizer and daily vitamin as well DOES WONDERS FOR MY SKIN!!! I love clean and clear’s blackhead remover

  • Nikol

Add 100% Pure Frankincense to your daily moisturizer (only a drop or two). Smells funky, but it will go away. It’s a known wrinkle reducer and is amazing for your skin!

  • Hannah

so I have incredibly chlorine damaged hair! I was wondering about any hair masks that may help? thanks!!
