Whether you’re attending a BBQ, throwing a pool party, or snuggling up with your beau during a fabulous firework display, the Fourth of July is all about showing off your patriotic pride and of course… layering on the red, white and blue. Although the holiday has a restricted color palette it still lends to unlimited styling possibilities, after all it is Independence Day, so I urge you all to be an individual with your patriotic style by straying from the usual jean shorts and flag tee combo. If the festive flair is too much for you, try taking a less literal approach by only pairing two of the colors, like a classic blue and white combo.
Celebrating the Fourth of July in LA is definitely different than my typical east coast backyard activities. Last year after celebrating with friends, we drove into the Hollywood hills to watch the fireworks from all the neighboring valleys. This year it’s all about the beach, which means a totally different ensemble is needed. Location is key when it comes to styling your outfit, so to help inspire a few wardrobe ideas, I’ve styled three ensembles with a festive palette perfect for celebrating the good old USA.
Casual Comfy Ensemble
Causal and comfy are two of my top Forth of July outfit requirements. Since the daily activities usually consist of poolside parties and impromptu games, effortless style, or at least the appearance of effortless style, is ultra important. Shorts with a cute top and stylish flats, like these LC Lauren Conrad sandals, are perfect for low-key get-togethers. Also these LC Lauren Conrad polka dot shorts would make for the perfect base to a casual Fourth of July ensemble. As for the top, stripes are a huge trend this year and since they also conveniently appear on the flag, incorporating them into your holiday look has never been more appropriate.
Breezy Beach Ensemble
There’s nothing I love more than a flowing maxi during the summertime and a Fourth of July BBQ is the perfect place to showoff your latest maxi moment. Pairing simple maxi dresses with statement pieces like a wide brimmed floppy hat creates a breezy beach look ideal for waterside activities. When it comes to choosing the ideal color for your maxi, try the holiday’s calmest shade and make a statement in solid blue.
Classy Chic Ensemble
If your Fourth of July plans consist of a fancy house party or going out for drinks with girlfriends, this dressed up ensemble offers up a fun twist on the classic holiday colors is the perfect look for you. I love the timelessly chic appearance this tweed Zara blazer adds to this festive ensemble. If you’re an accessory fiend like me, a simple white base will always allow your statement pieces, like a red bag and pumps, to stand out.
