This story is from our partner, FabSugar! Twice a month we’ll share FabSugar’s best fashion tips and shopping guides. Today’s post teaches you how to refresh your denim written by Hannah Weil of FabSugar:
Our jeans are our closet staples, so it’s not unusual that we often opt to pair them with other closet staples, like our t-shirts. Be it a lack of time or a lack of outfit creativity, we may rely a little too heavily on our basics to get us by. To that point, we’re making the switch to something a little more inspired that much easier. Inside, we’ve tackled five of our favorite denim styles – from the skinny to the season’s printed jeans – and styled them up with a set of fresh eyes. The tips and tricks to adding polish, interest, and a little sophistication to your denim routine are easy. We’ve mapped out the looks – just click through to see and shop them all.
The Flare Jean…
Capitalize on the cool ’70s feel of your favorite flares with a breezy tiered tank and a pair of sky-high platforms. Swap out the shades and carry-all for a smaller clutch and a pair of statement earrings to take this look from afternoon lunch to date night.
Mother Denim the Mellow Drama Jean ($220), Leifnote Tiered Petunia Tank ($98), Twelfth St. by Cynthia Vincent Petra Platform Sandals ($350), Illesteva Frieda Round-Frame Sunglasses ($260), Chloé Paraty Medium Leather Shoulder Bag ($2,145)
The Printed Jean…
For a cool Summer fete or evening out on the town, look to your printed jeans to lend a little of the on-trend – then look to some dressier components to give them a superchic angle. We’d add a superfemme peplum top and a pair of sexy stilettos to give the look a party-perfect feel.
Joe’s Jeans Floral Print Skinny Jean ($179), Zara Basic Sandal ($50), H&M Peplum Top ($40, available in stores), DVF Lytton Minaudiere Clutch ($295), Rachel Leigh Estates Everyday Stud Earrings ($55)
The Boyfriend Jean…
Boyfriend jeans are a favorite pair to hang around in on weekends because of their comfy, slouchy fit. Still, that doesn’t mean you can’t give them a little seasonal sophistication. With a fitted white blazer, a pastel tank, and a pretty pair of espadrilles, they may be just polished enough to take to a casual office.
J Brand Denim Aiden Distressed Boyfriend-Fit Jeans ($220), Kain Classic Washed Silk Tank ($155), Acne Tate Silk-Crepe Blazer ($640), Nine West Nine West Youdig Espadrilles ($50)
The White Jean…
We always reach for our striped tees to style out white denim for Summer, but for an alternative, look to superpretty fabrics, like this chiffon blouse, to give your jeans a more feminine vibe. Add in a pair of embellished flats and a delicate necklace for a sweet look that works as easily at the office as it does for dinner and drinks.
Topshop Moto White Baxter Jeans ($80), Vanessa Bruno Rose-Print Top ($410), Zara Studded Sandal With Gemstones ($129), Jiwon Park Pearl Necklace ($265)
The Skinny Jean…
Avoid coupling your basic skinny jeans with a basic tee – the look will feel, well, basic. Instead, add in a silky button-up and a cool pair of heels with a fun pop of color to change up your tired-denim routine.
Acne Skinny Jean ($281), Rachel Comey Brewster Top ($334), Jimmy Choo Samos Leather and Wood Platform Sandals ($875), Zara Plaited Leather Shopper ($149)
