I bought these books after seeing them in the bestsellers list in my local bookstore. (I study an English Lit degree and when it comes to modern books I am always stuck in a rut!) I'm usually not one for the crime genre, however I am always will to give it a go! and here is what I thought:

Dearie me, 200 pages in I wanted to throw the book in the rubbish as I was still not feeling it! I feel like the author places such an emphasis on the main characters back story, yet to me the majority seemed unimportant. Well anyway after finishing the book (as well as the second!) I feel that Larsson writes in such a bizzare way! He is the master in creating the fantastic climax yet once it's reached the crescendo you're left feeling like 'Oh! is that it!?!'

The second book to me seemed alot better, yet not fantastic! The story line itself is fantastic but is completely let down by his way of writing (which is a shame!) Overall I think that it has great potential but it's seriously not reaching the standard it could be. I'd like to hear others thoughts on the book, I feel maybe because of all the high reverence my expectations were too much? What did you guys think?

I've read the first two, and I felt the same for the beginning book. But I thought after 200 pages in, it was fantastic although it was a little intense for me at the time.

I've read the second book and LOVED it. Thought it was great. I'm on the waitlist now for the third at the library. (:

I've read the three books a few years ago and that's right, the first one is starting veeeery slowly but when it accelerates, you can't drop the book at night!

Will you go watch the movie(s?)? I've seen the swedish movies and they were really good only very few things were missing!

I never read the book, but I saw the first movie. Well, 2/3rds of it. And from what I've heard, the book is much darker than the movie. About a year ago I experienced a sexual assault. Essentially, I was raped. Seeing this movie was absolutely horrifying. I had no idea that this was part of the subject content, and during the related parts, I broke into tears and had to literally dive into my boyfriend's chest and try to cover my ears. I write this because while I think I would have been able to stomach the content prior to my incident, I know afterwards that I will never be able to see a scene like that again. I have learned through counselling that similar events and ideas can bring up past trauma and initiate post traumatic stress. I just want to warn people who have experienced a sexual assault that this book or movie could be extremely disturbing for them, because it definitely brought back a lot of horrible memories for me.

I have read all three books and I loved them! I thought it was very good and I thought that the details were very good but the movie was a little intense. But it was still good. I hope more books come out but sadly that wont happen.
