Each season seems to have its own category of specialized footwear. Summer has its strappy sandals and flip-flops, spring has its pastel ballet flats and peep toe pumps, and winter has its riding boots and apres ski shoes. But what about autumn? When it comes to fall footwear for 2012, my shoe of choice is the low-rise bootie. They are versatile beyond belief and they are comfortable too. Short booties look great paired with skinny jeans and a pullover or with a sweater dress and tights. Wear them from daylight to dawn and you'll be looking good no matter what. Since finding the perfect pair of low-rise booties is no easy feat, I've put together my top 10 bootie picks for fall that won't break the bank (except one pair)...
1. LC Lauren Conrad Ankle Boots
2. Rosegold Bevin Wedge Booties
3. Sam Edelman Lisle Booties
4. Steve Madden Panelope Boots
5. Vera Wang Footwear Royce' Bootie
6. KORS Michael Kors Lena Lace Up Booties
7. Madison Harding Miller Western Booties
8. KORS Michael Kors Kaelin Suede Booties
9. Daniblack Morton High Heel Booties
10. Jeffery Campbell Suede Rumble Boot
I love all of these booties and think they would be the perfect addition to any fall wardrobe. The Vera Wang booties are a "splurge" pair, but they were just too cute to pass up. Thankfully, for those of you who don't want to pay a not-so-pretty-penny for the Vera heels, you can DIY a similar pair in a snap. Just check out my Crafty Creations video on how to create your own detachable bow for your shoes.
If you're on the shorter side and are afraid that the low-rise look will cut off your leg (making you look "stubby"), be sure to shop for a pair that dips lower in the front, exposing more of your ankle rather than hitting at your lower calf. This creates a lengthening effect for your legs, which happens to be a personal favorite silhouette-slimming trick of mine. Also, a higher heel will help elongate your stems as well.
Which bootie is your favorite? Are you going to give this trend a try?
XO Lauren

I love them all. I bought some booties last year about this time to wear to a wedding. I wore a grey silk dress with black tights and black booties. And I just broke them out over the weekend. I love fall!!

I love all the booties for fall! What is your opinion on rubber boots? I hate when it rains and you get wet feet and then you have to stay in these shoes the whole day... so I was thinking about some nice, chic rubber boots... or are those a fashion no-go..?

I love no. 5, the Vera Wang Royce bootie. I love it because it reminds me of your bow DIY from last week. Love the playful detail :) XOXO

Can you do a post on wearing ankle booties with dresses? I love rocking them with skinny jeans, but I'm too intimidated to wear them with bare legs! Help!

I love booties and I am currently on the hunt for another pair so this is GREAT! However, I need a little fashion help.. if anyone could send me a message I would really appreciate it! Most of the jeans/pants I have are like a skinny/straight leg and when i put the booties on they can't go over it and just bunch up at the bottom, leggings don't quite work because you can see a part of my leg/ankle and I think it looks weird. I also even put tights in them and I still couldn't get the look down. Someone please help! Or Lauren, could you maybe do a post about how to wear these with what outfits so I can get an idea? Thank you everyone!!

I have a pair of ankle booties, but whenever I pair them with my skinny jeans, you can see a little bit of my ankle. IS THAT OKAY?!?!?!?!?!?!
