Okay ladies, it's time to assemble and join the fash march towards fall's most attention grabbing trend. Military inspired pieces have resurfaced for fall 2012 with fresh new styles and silhouettes that will bring out the style solider in all of us. Uniform details, strong shoulders, and warm color palettes encompass this utilitarian aesthetic. Brands such as Elizabeth and James, Jason Wu, Victoria Beckham, and Marc by Marc Jacobs all showcased military inspired pieces in their fall collections helping prove that it is possible to rock this trend without looking like you just strolled off the set of "Saving Private Ryan." If you find the military craze a tad overwhelming, try a little basic training by opting for army green separates or a pair of skinny jeans with cargo pockets.
Below are two ways to rock your fall military must-haves.
Camo Couture:
Zara Jacket *Sold Out, Altar'd State Dress *Sold Out, LC Lauren Conrad Sunglasses
As someone who grew up in the south I never imagined the day I'd see camouflage pieces strutting down the runway. While it might be a good idea to leave the fatigues to the real American heroes, we still have plenty of less dominating options to choose from. As someone who considers their style to be girly and colorful, the challenge of incorporating camo into my closet has become somewhat addictive. To balance out the masculinity associated with the structured jacket, simply pair your camouflage pieces with a super feminine dress or skirt in a pale color palette.
Military Chic
Zara Military Coat with Gold Buttons ($159), Joie Top - Exclusive Marlo Silk ($218), Kohls Jennifer Lopex Floral Lurex Circle Skirt, Shoe Station Love Delicious MEROZ Taupe Suede ($29.99), Posh Locket FASH Large Bow Ring ($28)
Let's face it, camouflage probably doesn't fall into most of your personal aesthetics, so instead of turning your back on the trend completely, try a more polished approach with a tailored military coat, complete with dramatic shoulders and top brass buttons. The much needed break from your go-to trench will add the perfect high fashion kiss to your fall wardrobe. Go with a rich blue to compliment falls must-have hues while offering a subtle step in the military direction.
Edgy Military Ensemble:
TopShop LIGHTWEIGHT HOODED SWING COAT ($130), Posh Locket Ring, Mimi Boutique Graciela Black Satchel ($65), Burberry Women's Oversized Angular Sunglasses (£179), H&M Blouse (£14.99), LC Lauren Conrad Faux Leather Pants, Posh Locket Cassidy Nouveau Gold Necklace ($45.00)
Girly Military Ensemble:
Wallis BLACK MILITARY COAT ($115.00), Tenover6 Rider Bag With Studs ($595), Posh Locket Ring, Bauble Bar Triple Layer Cup Necklace ($68), Jeffrey Campbell T-Bar Leather Sandals (£120.00), LC Lauren Conrad Dot Mesh Dress
Are you going to enlist in this season's military movement?
xoxo

I have seen the military look all over lately & I have to say, it does intimidate me a little bit. I feel that you could go so wrong so quickly & take it too far but I absolutely LOVE the outfits you have put together here!!! I could see myself in every single one of them :)

The military look is such a must-have. Love the female elements turned into a feminine way. The contrast of flowing fabrics with military jackets is a must have of this season!! :) XOXO from New York Fashion Week
