The Dating Game: 5 Fun Fall Date Ideas

Nov 5, 2012 at 9:00am by Lauren Conrad

Whether you're paired up or not, these 5 fun fall actives are sure to keep a smile on your face this season...

Game night. A little friendly competition is never a bad thing for a relationship. Grab your guy and head out to his favorite sports bar for some air hockey, pool, and maybe even pop-a-shot...

Try a new food. There’s something special about discovering new things together as a couple. Testing out cuisines is a simple way to add a little adventure into your day-to-day life without having to put in too much effort. Plus, weather is never an issue when it comes to eating. Foods to try this fall: pho, mughlai chicken, and dim sum. (Have more suggestions? Leave them in the comments below!)

Go bowling.
I feel like we forget to do the activities we loved as children when we are adults. I don’t know about you, but I used to love to go bowling when I was younger. Bowling is great for fall and wintertime dates since it’s an indoor activity that’s both competitive and fun—a winning combination for bonding.

Do a night in. Mix things up and spend the night at home. To make it extra special, garnish the house with freshly cut fall flowers, a few board games (Jenga anyone?), yummy baked cookies, and a home cooked meal like my mother's Taco Soup (perfect for a chilly night).

Take a hike. Spending too much time indoors can drive you stir crazy. Weather permitting—take your guy out for a hike. There’s nothing like trekking the trails when it’s cool and crisp out. Plus it’s a great way to double up a date a workout too.

Go apple picking. Nothing says fall like picking apples fresh from the tree. If you live in an apple-friendly climate, find a local orchard and head out for the day. The best part? You can bake a pretty amazing apple pie with the fruits of your labor. No pun intended :-)

Even if you are solo, all of these activities are fun things to do with your friends and family during the cooler fall and winter months. Give them a try and report back!

Do you have another fun fall or winter date idea? Sound off below!

XO Lauren

These are great ideas, which don't have to be just dates, I really like the idea of a game night, rather than a date, but with friends; asking them to come round and bring their favourite childhood games like monopoly, mouse trap, etc.

In England we had Bonfire night yesterday, every 5th November we celebrate Guy Fawkes' failed attempt to blow up parliament 400 years ago, by burning a "Guy" on a bonfire and having fireworks. It is a great group activity/date. That's another reason I love Autumn, Bonfire night, I love fireworks :)

I've always loved Ice Skating as a fun winter date :-) It's a great excuse to "fall" into the arms of your guy or even to use his hand to steady you! So perfect :-)

My fiance and I love trying new foods. There are so many restaurants and cafe and so little time. Nothing is more relaxing than having a lazy sunday brunch at a gorgeous little cafe :)

I love game nights. Most of my dates have been to a bar to get drinks. I love when a guy gets creative and we do something entirely different.

I think going to a movie is the worst for a first date! It's great for when you know each other better but sitting awkwardly with someone you just met for 2 hours in the dark is not fun.

Let me guess you as a guy to go bowling. It is a perfect way to have fun and to have an amazing first date. After that you can cook at home or go out to eat something. Thats how you can really impress a guy. I would be definitely :) XOXO Martin

Cute ideas for beau or friends. For a "night in", make sure to have all of your guests turn off their mobile phones. Its amazing how much more focused and therefore more fun you have when you do!

Great ideas! I love the suggestions for a night in. We have a lot of "nights in" but they don't involve the careful planning! More like leftovers and DVR catching up! :P Fresh flowers make it nice.

We went for a walk yesterday after having a big breakfast. Lots of forest preserves around our house... it was so nice!

Such good ideas! If I went bowling it would be more a comedic time because I just cannot bowl! LoL! In fact, one time we had bumpers along the lane...still managed to get it in the gutter :(
I love the apple picking idea, especially since it is fall that would be such a great way to spend an afternoon followed up with some hot apple cider :)

Going to Barnes & Noble and picking out a book together is a fun event in itself. Mysteries are always great because they're page turners and it's exciting to look forward to that time you devote to reading the book to find out what happens next. Whether it's a certain time very night, or a certain day of the week, reading together is a fun bonding experience. Taking turns reading to each other is one of my favorite past times with my boyfriend :)
