Hey guys, it's Anna again from Fash Boulevard. During college I was stranded two and a half hours away from my favorite department stores, forcing me to get creative with my wardrobe. Time and time again, no matter how many repeats were actually taking place, my white and black pieces proved to be the most versatile items in my wardrobe... Which at the time was more of a "intimate" selection, rather than a wardrobe. So naturally, when black and white pieces popped up all over the spring 2013 runway shows, like Prada and Louis Vuitton, I was instantly intrigued. From bold prints to polished separates, there is a multitude of ways to achieve the always classic black and white trend. Celebrities like Taylor Swift and Beyoncé have been glittering the red carpet with this uber chic color combination helping drive the contrasting combo to the forefront. So ladies, it's time to be the cook in your fashion filled kitchen and flaunt this classic color mixture like the fashionista you are. Below are a few of my favorite ways to achieve the look.
Mixed Prints:
Blouse - Equipment, Shorts - ASOS, Jacket - JCPenny's (Sold Out)
Heels - LC Lauren Conrad, Necklace - Macy's (Sold Out), Ring - Bohypsy
To help spice up this classic color combination, try incorporating bold and unusual prints to break up your solid separates. Striped pieces will always be the most classic, but don't be afraid to show a little more personality with a fun and original print. If your daily routine finds you office bound but you still want to portray trends through your wardrobe try pairing a fun printed blouse, like this star top, with a sleek black pencil skirt you already own.
Printed pieces you can incorporate into your spring wardrobe:
1. Frames and Fortune Dress
2. Dina Striped Pump
3. Bow Tie Large Scarf
4. LC Lauren Conrad Striped Chiffon Blouse
Solid Separates:
Blazer - BCBG Max Azria, Blouse - Aqua, Pants - J Brand
Heels - Target (similar), Necklace - Chloe + Isabel, Handbag - Olivia & Joy
Pairing black and white separates is a bold statement, that's achievable for fashion lovers everywhere, regardless of your budget and accessibility to fast fashion stores. A comfy pair of white denim and a causal or dressy black top is a super easy and virtually effortless way to dominate this trend. When it comes to accessories, I love pairing silver jewelry with this color trend. The pieces reflect the white and pop off of the black perfectly.
Solid colored separates to add contrast to your spring looks:
1. Cream Crepe Blazer
2. Black Crepe Skater Skirt
3. Don't Cap Toe Booties
4. Polka Spot Skinny Jeans

My wardrobe mostly consists of black, whites, and grays. They're the most easiest to pair with any outfit :) -
The black and white trend works very well. I didn't think the trend worked with me, until I finally decided to try it.(: <3 -

Another beautiful post Anna! Could you do a post about florals? How do you wear them without looking like your grandmother's curtains or a school girl?

OMG I love that BCBG Max Aria blazer. It's a bit out of my price range, but I'm considering forgetting about food for the next couple of weeks and buying it anyway. LOVE it. -

I love the B+W trend for spring and Anna makes it look so chic! I recently did my own take on B+W with a POC for fun.
