It's "back-to-school" season, which means we need to start thinking about stocking up on fall-friendly fashions. As lazy summer days come to an end and studious new beginnings await, now is the time to transition your wardrobe by mixing in new autumn-approved pieces with your summery staples.
Back when I was in school, I remember always feeling frazzled this time of year. When I would go back to school shopping, I'd always beg my mother for just one more pair of cut off shorts...when in fact, what I really needed was a fresh pair of jeans and a crisp cardigan. As I grew I realized that this transitory time was key in setting the tone for my fall wardrobe so I came up with a basic list of must-have items to grab at the end of each summer. Today I've decided to share this list with you. Consider it your go-to shopping guide that will help you focus in on what pieces you actually need to kick-start your fall wardrobe.
Whether you're shipping off to college or simply looking for a work wardrobe update, these basics will get you in the fall shopping spirit:
Stock up on basics: Vince Camuto Leather Buckle Trench Coat, Paper Crown Wildflower Dress, LC Lauren Conrad Boyfriend Blazer, Topshop Petite Khaki Army Jacket
Renew your staples: Goldsign Misfit Skinny Jeans, J.Crew Fine-kit Cardigan, J.Crew Painter Boatneck Stripe Tee, Citizens of Humanity Avedon Skinny Jeans
Snag some new knits: Romwe Bowknot Pants, Topshop Sleeveless Peplum Top, J.Crew Stretch Tank, LC Lauren Conrad Floral Pleated Skirt
Find the right footwear: Urban Outfitters Kimchi Blue Victorian Boot, LC Lauren Conrad Ballet Flats, Zara Studded Cowboy Ankle Boot, Steven Inspirre Flat Boots
While breezy dresses and light-weight tanks are great, I'd be lying if I told you I wasn't excited to greet my boots and scarves that have been in hibernation these past few months... So get excited and get ready to transition your closet for fall.

Hi Lauren.
I am from Denmark and the weather here is definately different than in L.A. That is why, one thing that often annoys me a little by these articles, is that it's not possible in Denmark to wear skirts and shorts in the fall. (Much less in winter, where it can get a lot below 0 degrees.) So I see all these wonderful articles about fashion, that I have no chance of using unless I wanna catch a cold. So I was wondering, if maybe it was possible for you, to take this into consideration also? Maybe there could be a fashion inspiration for us, who live in colder areas of the world? I bet I'm not there only one looking for this. :-)
Just an idea...
Otherwise - LOOOOOOVE your site. So pretty and inspiring. :-) -

Thanks for the tips. Just got myself a peplum shirt. I see it's in this season and can be worn for the rest of summer, spring and fall. The khaki trench in different shades is definitely something I wanted to try this winter, possibly blue. Yay fall lets have fun with it!
