Seeing as the winter solstice was last month I thought now would be an appropriate time to share my favorite nail polish colors for the season. As you can see in the above collage, there are 5 shades that have made their way into my winter polish rotation. Here’s a breakdown on my polish picks for this chilly season:
Navy
You may recall that navy was one of my favorite nail colors for fall, but this season I’ve opted for a flat navy instead of a shimmery version. (But to be honest, I am just really loving navy nails right now!) American Apparel makes a great deep indigo called Passport Blue. Other navy lacquers that have caught my eye include RGB Cobalt and Chanel Blue Satin.
Mauve
I love this hue because it reads like a neutral—it goes with almost everything. It’s understated but clean and chic. My favorite mauvey-shade is Essie Ladylike, which I am wearing in the above photo. It’s more of a “soft” mauve. However, other variations of the color are great too. OPI Java Mauve is really nice as is Deborah Lippmann Modern Love.
Muted Gold
Don’t get me wrong, I love getting gilded but this understated take on the statement-making metallic is a really nice update for the winter season. Like mauve, it’s another “new neutral” in my book. I’m wearing Deborah Lippmann Believe, but I also like OPI I Only Drink Champagne (Love the name!) and NARS Versailles.
Blood Red
Deep reds have always been my go-to during the wintertime. This year I found a really nice (and inexpensive) rouge at Urban Outfitters in Blood Red, which I am wearing in the photo. Other vampy reds that I love include Chanel Pirate and Butter London Saucy Jack.
Shimmery Silver
Along with mauve and muted gold, shimmery—almost translucent—silver has proved to be a refreshing “new neutral” for the winter season. I love the milky finish and the barely-there touch of shimmer. Plus I can wear it with everything. Butter London Frilly Knickers is really lovely along with Sephora In Like and China Glaze Shimmer Pearl White Cap.
What are your 5 favorite nail polish colors for winter?

My favorite colours for winter are:
1: White, like the snow outside my apartment
2: some kind of beige and brown, a mixture of both, but a lighter tone
3: a dark red-brown, looks classy and fits to nearly everything
4: light baby-blue,remembers a little bit of spring on a very cold day
5: all kind of sparkling nail polish (best a silver one, but I love them all) just because they give you a touch of glamour, even if you don't feel that glamorous :)

so sad! 'I Only Drink Champagne' is retired in OPI, but some of these other colors look great. I recommend the OPI App-so fun, the colors aren't always accurate but great to get an idea and list your favorites. -
I am actually wearing Essie's Ladylike today. I just put it on last night. Good to know I am following Winter nail polish trends. :-) -
In winter, I tend to use darker colors: a dark metallic grey, navy blue, dark browns, reds and teals. I also like to use a mauve polish that has a more brown undertone. -
Love all of your picks! When it comes to winter nail polish I tend to stable darker colors, but I love the mauve color you chose. I will definitely have to put that on my list to try. -
I'm into the wine colors just like in the name of OPI's Malaga Wine!
