Baby it's cold outside... Winter is a wonderful time of year, but the chapped lips that come with it are not so great. While lip balms may provide temporarily relief, it's better to get to the root of the problem: Your lips are thirsty!
First off, you should always be consuming an average of two to three liters of water each day. Dehydration can cause excessive lip dryness. And no one needs a case of granny lips. This may come as a surprise, but it's particularly important to increase your water intake during the winter. Wintertime conditions are actually tougher on your skin than summer. Who knew?
In addition to consuming enough water, one of the best ways to directly hydrate your pout is by pressing cold, sliced up cucumber onto your lips for a few minutes. According to Whole Living Daily and Home Remedies, cucumber has many healing properties that help heal, relieve dryness and reduce irritation.
Next time your lips are cracked or chapped, look to your veggie drawer!

The best thing for chapped lips is the new "Maybellline Baby Lips." Or any type of lip scrub.......The Body Shop has one that smells great and works extremely well. -
My chapped lips were really bugging me today and I didn't have any lip balm on me! I will definitely try cucumber next time! Cucumber is good for so many things. It's good for your skin and weight loss, and also makes your sweat smell nicer (random I know!) Thanks for the tip!

try using sugar and mix it in water.
then use a cloth and wipe it on your lips.
leave on for a few minutes then in a circular motion, slowly wipe it off.
clean winter lips! -
I will differently drink more water and I will try the cucumber thing for my lips. At work I make sure that I have lipgloss on my lips so they look nice -

This is the best for dry, flaky lips! Get about a tablespoon of natural cane sugar (ex. Sugar In The Raw) and mix it with just enough olive oil to make it like a paste (it should only take a couple of drops). Mix and apply to your lips using your finger or a cheap toothbrush. Exfoliate and rinse! It's awesome because it keeps your lips moisturized and lipstick ready!

Use a hot compress, wash cloth, and gently rub your flaky lips in a circular motion. helps to remove the dry/dead skin :) Now go kiss somebody....

For everyone with dry lips in the winter, I got addicted to lip balms after a year with Accutane in my 20's (I'm in my 40's now) and my best recommendation is MAC Hydrating Lip Conditioner...the little jar lasts forever and it's worth it's weight in gold! The best I ever used, and I used a lot! Sinks in, not waxy, smooths and conditions instantly and truly hydrates without feeling like you have junk on your lips It's part of my nightly fall-winter bedtime ritual! Contains Almond Oil, Shea Butter, Avocado Extract, Wheat Germ Oil, vitamins A and E, only $15!

no matter how much chapstick I seem to put on, my lips are always dry and flaky during the winter. I will definitely be giving the cucumber a try!
