Though some of us might look back at our prom pictures and wonder what were we thinking, the night always remains one of those classic high school experiences that every girl should have the privilege of enjoying. Unfortunately, prom is not a reality for everyone. In fact, 1 in 4 American families can't afford to send their student to prom.
Thankfully, one organization is looking to change that. DoSomething.org has launched its first Prom for All campaign to collect thousands of dresses for girls who couldn't otherwise afford to go to prom. Every dress collected will be given to a local girl to wear on her big night.
The campaign officially starts this Sunday, April 22nd, and runs through June 22nd. Start cleaning those closets out now... I know you have some cute, forgotten frocks in there! You can donate at a local dress drive, or organize a drive yourself. Consider this a great way to jumpstart operation organize for a wonderful cause–it's a win, win!
Do you have any tips for the girls getting ready for prom this year?
XO Lauren

I would love some blogs about prom! :)
One tip that I have to save money and for some extra fun before the prom is to do your hair and nails by yourself! I did my own hair and nails last year with a group of my friends before pictures! It was really fun because we all helped each other especially in hard to see spots when doing your hair. Of course, always experiment with hairstyles a few weeks before to see what look will look best with the dress! :)

Wear something eternal and a colour that express yourself. Look natural and use comfortable shoes! (or in my case, in the middle of the night, wear fancy flats).
And most important, ¡ENJOY!

I would love to donate some dresses and maybe organize a drive in my area since it is surrounded by great collages that I think would be interested in supporting these efforts!

This is such a heart warming cause! Wish I could donate some dresses but it would be so expensive to ship it to the States.
My advice for girls going to the prom is: Always keep it classy!

The high school where I teach runs a Prom Closet for both girls and boys to help them get dresses/tuxes, have their hair and nails done, and get them a ticket. It's a great program! Check out their website here! https://sites.google.com/site/lhspromcloset/

One tip that I can give to all the girls going to prom (and this is from experience!): If you're going to do the 4" heels for your prom - BREAK THEM IN FIRST so that they don't kill your feet while you're at prom, and simply sitting at your table, watching everyone else dance! :) Make sure that they are as comfortable as high heels can possibly be...and - I can't state it enough - BREAK THEM IN WELL AHEAD OF PROM! :) And you won't be sorry!

I have so many dresses I'd love to donate!
And a prom blog post would be VERY helpful, please!
Any store suggestions where I can get beautiful, classic dresses for a reasonable price? My friend and I are freaking out...we don't know where to go to get our prom dresses where we know for sure someone else won't have the same dresses as us!

I donated a lot of my dresses to the girls in Henryville whose school was destroyed by the tornadoes. This is such a great cause! Thank you Lauren for posting this.

This is a great way to help out those that can't afford the price tag associated with prom. My cleaners ran a dress drive like this last month for those in the area and I cleaned out my closet of all my old dresses from high school and sorority formal dances. It helped me make some space in my closet while helping those who want a fun night at prom.
