My boyfriend was away playing baseball and I hadn't seen him in almost a month. He was 9 hours away so it was an extremely long drive but too short to take a flight making it almost impossible to see him. I was all upset because I was going to be spending valentines day alone. It was 1145pm the day before valentines day and I was talking to him on the phone. He said he was out with some of the guys and would call me when he got home. Exactly at midnight I heard a knock on my door. I opened it and there he was standing at my door with a dozen roses. He had to drive back the next day but still made the 9 hour drive to spend a few short hours with me on valentines day. @ashleypizz -

Over 12 years ago, we had just started dating and he said he would cook me dinner on Valentine's Day. When I arrived at his house and opened the door, I was overwhelmed when I saw hundreds of heart shaped red and white balloons, floating on the ceiling, some had my name written on them, others had my picture printed on them and the rest had "I Love You" on them. Amongst all the red and white balloons, he had decorated a beautiful candle light table with roses and heart shaped napkins and served me a delicious dinner. I felt very special and was deeply touched by all the effort he had gone through to personalize the balloons and to serve me a fabulous dinner to show me the ultimate expression of love. Today we are still happy together and he still continues to surprise me with gestures of love. -
On Valentine's Day in 2007 my first real boyfriend and I were supposed to celebrate Valentine's as well as our ten month anniversary. He called me up to tell me he couldn't come down to see me do to the snow and end up breaking up with me over the phone because he wasn't "feeling it" anymore. So, I spent my Valentine's night driving to his house (which was an hour away) heartbroken and crying to dump his stuff on his front lawn...worst Valentine's Day ever! Twitter @mrsorbie -
My best Valentine's day was last year. My boyfriend and I have been dating for a little over two years now. He is a great cook and he constantly asks me to go over and have dinners with him or makes lunch and we go on picnics. Last year I wanted to do something different. I wanted to surprise him with dinner. I was a terrible cook so I asked a few friends for ideas and came up with the perfect dinner. I prepared a salad, spaghetti and for desert I made cupcakes. And obviously some red wine :) We usually get each other materialistic gifts, but I thought about getting him something that means more than just a watch. I bought a canvas and painted something for him as well as getting him a book he had been wanting for a while. When he arrived to my house I had a table set up, there were candles on the table and everything looked perfect. I cannot tell you all how surprised he was to see that I had done that for him. He loved every bit. After dinner we went out on the balcony and drank wine and had a great conversation. No better way to spend a Valentine's Day with the person you love.
His gift for me was a book I had also wanted for a while, some candles for my new house, flowers, and my favorite chocolate. We had a great time. I will never forget valentines day of 2012. -
For my first Valentines day with my current boyfriend, he told me to pack a weekend bag. He took me on a surprise Valentine weekend to a hot spring resort in Canada. It was a great time, and our first weekend away together. I've been in love ever since! :)

My best Valentine's Day was three years ago. It was our first V-Day as a newlyweds and at our new duty station, and we really didn't observe the holiday while dating. Jason and I wanted to do something unique, and waited until the weekend after to celebrate so we could really think it over. One thing we had discussed quite a bit was a new addition to our family, so we thought what better time than our first Valentine's? We traveled to Animal Rescue Fund of the Hamptons and adopted a gray Whippet mix, which we named Murphy. He's my favorite Valentine of all!

my best valentines date was this year :) my beau and I both have work all this weekend so we celebrated early. We live in Seattle and in the year and a half I have lived here I have never been on the space needle so we went up to the needle for an amazing view, got all dressed up and ate there. After we took champagne to an amazing view point called Gas works park that looks over all of Seattle. It was fun with a touch of romance and adventure :)

My best Valentine's Day was a few years ago when I flew from California to Hawaii to surprise my boyfriend who lived there. We spent the day together at the beach, went to dinner and watched the sunset. Perfect! -
My best valentine was last year when I had recently become single. I was a junior in college and asked one of my girlfriends who also wasn't doing anything on valentines night, to go to dinner with me. We ended up walking to a local mexican restaurant and had a blast. We turned a somewhat depressing valentines into a fun girls night! Who needs a guy, when you have a best friend, right?

My best Valentine's date was the part after a lovely dinner. We went to a local convenience store and purchased a bunch of candy. We went home and ate the candy and sipped on wine. It was great!

My best Valentine's date, thus far, was actually last night! My husband and I work completely opposite schedules and have no days off together, so even though we don't have kids (yet), it's hard to find time the two of us can spend alone with each other. AND, because my husband works in the food and wine industry, we have NEVER been able to really celebrate Valentine's Day together. So, since he was off yesterday, we simply went out to dinner at one of our favorite quiet cocktail spots after I finished work. We sat at that bar, had cocktails, shared several small plates for dinner and it was just simple and sweet. We actually took the time to compliment each other on our outfits and comment on how awesome and excited we both were to share the night together, just the two of us. We continued on to a much more popular spot after dinner for a livelier atmosphere where we laughed, had some more cocktails and enjoyed meeting some tourists. The best part of the whole night was that we were living the perfect team, perfect match that we are, and everyone we encountered noticed that chemistry, which doesn't validate our relationship, but was a nice compliment. It's just nice to know that others see, recognize and appreciate what we share. Sorry for the lengthy comment! -
My best Valentines date was when I went round to my boyfriends place and he cooked a romantic meal for the two of us.. He had set out a table and made me wait in the room while he came in and served me his surprise meal of spaghetti meatballs! It was the cutest thing ever.. He even bought champagne and chocolates! It was so romantic and unexpected (:

I've actually been stood up on Valentine's night. I was 17 and it was sad, sad, sad. It was a guy I had just started dating and we made plans and then he never came, never called. Nothing. As I remember now, and lived it then it still feels like the makings of a teen dramady except I never got my sweet revenge. If I won this dress, that's what I'll call it. My sweet revenge dress. @melaniedegnan -
My best Valentines was when my boyfriend surprised me with my favorite type of pizza in a heart shape after we had decided not to do anything. betsy20786 :) -

I'm very excited to share my best Valentines day with you guys at laurenconrad.com! Last year when I was a junior in high school, the guy I was interested in and talking to asked if he could take me on a date that night. I said " yes, of course!". He took me to the Oceanside pier and we watched the waves and enjoyed the pleasure the fresh ocean air brought us. Moments later he gets down on one knee, pulls out a strawberry flavored ring pop, and asks " Sarina, will you be my girlfriend?" I was so shocked and excited, I squealed YES! :) -
My worst Valentine's Day experience was a few years ago in 2010. My now husband and I had been dating for just four months and decided to keep it low key by going to a local Japanese restaurant. At this point, I should mention, he is EXTREMELY allergic to fish oil. We are always very careful and while he loves Chinese food, we have to exercise caution when it comes to Japanese food because of all the fish. SO, as we're enjoying our first Valentine's dinner, they serve me miso soup before my sushi. Rather than asking or googling any information, my husband assumes it is 'just like egg drop soup,' and takes a large slurp. Unfortunately, it is made with a largely fish base. Immediately he began to have an allergic reaction and starts making odd coughing, 'barking,' and clearing of throat noises. We pay and rush out the door and to the nearest grocery (as he is too much of a manly man to 'ruin' our date by going to the ER) and stock up on Benadryl. I believe he took the whole box by the time we got back to his place. So there you have it, my worst Valentine's Day was basically like the allergic reaction scene out of Hitch, at least we can look back and laugh about it. P.S. We now carry an Epi pen with us! -
I've had some pretty great Valentine's Days but they just aren't as entertaining as the worst...
So I was in college and had recently had my first (and last) one night stand. Those bouncers just look so handsome around 4am don't they?!;) I usually refrained from those, either being committed to a boyfriend or single and not on the prowel. Anyway, I was coming home from teaching spinning classes at the campus gym on February 14th. Skipping home thinking my 3 roommates would greet me with a drink as usual. As I approach the door to my apartment I see a note on it. It is the beginning of a scavenger hunt. At first I think it must be for one of the other girls, since I'm single. But then I hear their whispers from inside. They open the door and I see candles everywhere while they all sit with THEIR drinks laughing hysterically. I at this point have not spoken, mainly because my jaw is on the floor in absolute horror. I follow the RHYMING (yes rhyming) scavenger hunt through the house to my tiny bedroom. Oh any by the way my roommates found it humorous to blast Celine Dion the entire time. I reach my bed which is covered in roses as well as a giant pink teddy bear purchased from Walmart, holding a pillow that says I Love You. Oh. No.
How did this happen? One night!!Isn't this supposed to be the other way around? I love you already? What did I say? What did I do? Eeeesh. Well, I didn't have the heart to ruin his Valentine's Day after all of that effort, so I endured a very awkward dinner. We eventually talked it out and I avoided that bar for my remaining semesters:) I guess we all got some laughs, lessons, and maybe a cute little dress out of it! #misskristin27 -
My worst Valentine's Day turned into the best ever! My boyfriend canceled on me at the last-minute and I was devastated. I called my dad like I always do when I'm upset, and he told me to get dressed up he was taking me out. He took me to a vintage theater in the city to see Breakfast at Tiffany's on the big screen! We had the best time, and it will always be the best Valentine's Day ever. Now that I'm married my Dad will always be my Valentine too! -
My best Valentine's Day was senior year of college. Went out to dinner with 3 of my single roommates, had (several) glasses of wine, then went to Walmart and bought sleds and went sledding for the rest of the night with some more friends! So much fun!! -

worst valentine's day was 2 years with my ex boyfriend. He broke up with me the day before and I had already bought his valentine's day present. He tried to get back with me a week later but I just hung up on him. @Jennifer__Huang
