Fashion Week: 6 Fun Facts You Should Know!
In honor of New York Fashion Week we thought it would be fun to share 6 fun facts about this major week of style that every fashionista ought to know…
- It was Press Week. Fashion Week was originally called "Press Week" since it was when designers showed off their newest fashions to journalists.
- The Big Four. Fashion Week kicks off in New York City, then it heads to London, Milan, and finally Paris (in that order). These cities are known as "The Big Four" in the fashion world.
- Fashion Week didn't start in Paris. Believe it or not, Fashion Week originated in New York City. The first Fashion Week took place the early 1940s.
- It happens twice a year. Fashion Week occurs twice a year: Once in the spring and once in the fall. Spring shows feature the upcoming fall fashions, while fall shows reveal what's in store for the following spring.
- Shows are not slow. The average fashion show is only about 10 minutes long!
- You cannot buy tickets to Fashion Week. Aside from a handful of shows, in most cases you cannot buy a ticket to Fashion Week. Typically only industry professionals such as stylists, buyers, high-profile bloggers, editors, and journalists are invited.

Great facts, some of which I didn't know! I watched a documentary where fashion week took place all over the city and at one point journalists couldn't attend all of them because of traffic or because they were all spread out until they created the tents at Bryant park. I DREAM of going to fashion week one day *sigh* If I ever get invited I would feel like I've made it as a blogger :)

I find it a little bit unfair,I mean they could just allow some people to enter the shows with an invitation from a competition or something..

OH some of my favorite places :) I didn't know the shows were that short! Oh my! I've been to my local fashion show week in Minneaoplis, but would love to someday go to NYFW or London... hmmmm. I've seen some great tips on fashion blogs about how to contact different designers and see if they can cover the event! -
It´s always quite funny. I run my own blog and work for German Online magazines as an editor and already visited New York Fashion Week, Paris and Berlin and I have to say that Men´s Fashion Week Milan is my favorite one. It is kind of intimate :) Would you visit Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Berlin Lauren?
