This story is from our partner, FabSugar! Twice a month we'll share FabSugar's best fashion tips and shopping guides. Today's post teaches you about the versatility of sweaters written by Brittney Stephens of FabSugar:
One Sweet Sweater, 3 Lovable Ways to Wear It
There's something about elbow patches that always reminds us of walking around campus as the leaves fall and retreating to the library to study for midterms. Whether on a blazer, sweater, or long-sleeved top, they completely emote a collegiate vibe – and we've come to adore the equestrian-cool staple. In order to help you maximize your wardrobe for back to school, we've taken the very adorable (and patch-adorned) Madewell Colorblock Heartnote Sweater ($72) and styled it up three ways, for three days of classes. Click through now to see and shop our looks.
Boy Meets Girl...
This look is boy-meets-girl at its best. Layer your sweater with a chambray button-up, then add a cheeky plaid bow tie. Skinny twill jeans will flatter your figure, while a classic pair of oxfords will pull your menswear-inspired look together.
Madewell Colorblock Heartnote Cardigan ($72), MiH Jeans Oslo Twill Skinny Jeans ($200), J.Crew Selvedge Chambray Shirt ($98), Topshop Maths Tan Leather Brogues ($60), Brooks Brothers Plaid Bow Tie ($55)
Crisp Fall Day...
This is as good a time as any to break out a pair of tweed shorts – the silhouette is great for the still-warm weather, but the fabric says "crisp Fall day" rather than "day at the beach." Pair your cardigan with a silky printed blouse and ankle boots, then accessorize with a wide-brimmed wool hat and colorful satchel for school.
Madewell Colorblock Heartnote Cardigan ($72), Reiss Ava Wide-Brim Trilby Hat ($105) Tucker Printed Silk Georgette Top ($299), Alice + Olivia Tweed Shorts ($157, originally $261), Rag & Bone Leighton Leather Ankle Boots ($495), Proenza Schouler PS1 Large Leather Satchel ($1,995)

Dress it up...
Dress up your sweater with a brightly colored tank and printed miniskirt – the bold hue will add intrigue, especially when paired with a print. Add stacked heels and a polished leather satchel, and feel free to pop on a pair of tights if the weather calls for them.
Madewell Colorblock Heartnote Cardigan ($72), Kain Campbell Silk and Linen Tank ($180) Maje Jacquard Skirt ($280), KORS Michael Kors Kimber Platform Sandal ($325), West Coast Wardrobe Batchel Satchel ($57)
Which look is your favorite?

Hi All! This is great! Ideas to help us get the most wears out of our clothes is not only creative, but it can lead to so many savings. These looks are not only distinct, but they also show how versatile a sweater of all things can be. In the cooler months I think we may not realize how many really cute styling options we have when it comes to sweaters. Obviously pairing them with jeans is a must like here

Bu,t taking the same sweater and pairing it with a skirt and belting it immediately creates a different look like here
http://closetfix.blogspot.com/2012/04/my-style-fix_11.html
that is just as stylish and equally chic.

Crisp Fall Day is probably my favorite, but I tend to avoid this type of sweater because the patches usually never match up on my petite frame. :)

I like the first one...not sure how I feel about the others. They seem a bit too busy for my taste.
One way to wear it that they didn't post was over a dress!! Like this:
