How many of you save the cork after finishing a bottle of wine? If you do, you're in luck because today's DIY Gift Guide craft is just the project for you: Cork Coasters! They make for excellent presents for all the winos in your life. Or, tie them onto a nice bottle of wine for a simple yet thoughtful host gift. Below are instructions on how to make cork coasters.
Makes 2 coasters

Here's what you will need...
- 16 corks (Make sure they are all equal in size as some corks are a tiny bit bigger than others.)
- hot glue gun + clear glue
Instructions
- Lay out all of your corks and group together similar size corks for each coaster.
- Using a hot glue gun, glue together eight corks in pairs of two. Make sure to apply glue in thin linear strips to avoid excess glue running over the sides.
- Once the glue has dried, lay out paired corks in alternating pattern as shown in photo #3. Then glue paired corks together.
- Allow glue to dry for one minute and voila, you have yourself an adorable little coaster.
Are you going to give this DIY a try?

I will definitely do this! I recently made a cork board using this same idea. I glued wine corks onto an empty picture frame for a different way to hang tickets, pictures, etc.-- so cute!

OMG!!! That is so awesome!!! It sooo kills to birds with one stone! I have been saving my corks for a while, knowing they could be useful, but didn't know for what. AND my bf and I have been looking for costers that are nice, but cheap, and this is a look that would work for us! Not too girly, not too manish! Can't wait to make!!!!

PS, I'm concerned as to what kind of cups/glasses can sit on these? It seams to me that you wouldn't want to put a flute or something too "vertical" on this, since the surface is bumpy... Is this true? Or can you put any kind of cup/glass on this?

I always keep them, but end up throwing them away, b/c I don't know what to do w/them!! These are great! I'm always looking for more coasters, since a bunch of mine end up w/earrings in them after a hard day, lol. Love this idea!!

Cute DIY! My mother in law has a couple wine cork corkboards -- there are so many cool projects you can do with them. These coasters would look perfect on our bar cart! Looks like I need to start drinking more wine, hahha!
