It’s no secret that I get absolutely giddy when the holidays roll around. I love decorating my home to give it a festive feel. Whether it’s lights strung across my bed or bunches of pinecones hung from my doors, adding a touch of holiday-inspired flair here and there is never a bad idea… Seeing as I’ve been putting my crafting skills to the test this year, I decided to create a simple but pretty DIY garland project for all of you to try.
DIY Glitter Garland
Here’s what you will need:
- circular cut outs of your favorite glittery wrapping paper (I used plates and cups to trace the circles)
- glue stick
- string
- scissors
Here’s how to make it:
Pick a length & place your circles. Decide how long you want your garland to be and cut the string accordingly. I measured mine so it would be long enough to hang across my fireplace. Also, I spaced out each cutout by about 3 fingers width and made sure the string crossed them at the center point. You can space them out however you want though!
Glue the back of your circles. Make sure the string evenly bisects the cutout circle.
Fold. Fold the circle in half with the string at the center point.
Repeat. Repeat all of the above until your have finished your garland…and voila, you have yourself some instantly glam holiday décor!

To give my garland a bit more depth, I created a second garland using plain, matte white paper. I placed this second plain garland staggered behind the glittery one… All in all, my glittery garland took me about 10 minutes to make. I love that it’s not store bought and I adore the festive touch it lends to my living room.
What do you think? Are you going to give my DIY Glitter Garland a try?
Also, for another fun and easy holiday décor idea, give my DIY pom poms a try. And be sure to check out my holiday decoration ideas from last year too!
Happy holidays and happy crafting!

I really like that! If I wasn't leaving too soon to enjoy it, I might actually employ that idea to my dorm.
