There are certain staples that really ring my bell. Particularly leather pants. I love the contrast a pair of leather-like leggings provides when paired with ultra feminine pieces. They add the perfect dose of edge a basic outfit needs to keep it looking modern and fashion forward. In the past, I've combined rock star studs with flirty skirts, and pink tresses with classic ponytails. In line with the past style trials, I've been fixated on leather leggings.
There's something refreshing about exchanging a pair of dark skinny jeans for edgy leather leggings. (Don't get me wrong, I love a great pair of blue jeans, but it's nice to mix it up.) Plus they are on-trend for fall too: Glossy leather leggings and separates were show stoppers on the Fall 2012 runways of 3.1 Phillip Lim and Balmain to name a few. But the best part about this trend is that they are very easy to work into your existing wardrobe...
When it comes to wearing leather (or faux leather) pieces in general, I think less is more. If you're going to wear leather for an evening event, I suggest sticking to traditional black pumps or peep toes for shoes and a ladylike clutch or chain strap handbag. Neutral or dark colored clothes work best with dark leather leggings because the toned-down color scheme keeps your silhouette looking slim and streamlined.
For daytime, leather leggings can be a great way to spice up your most comfortable outfit. They are perfect for running errands or grabbing lunch with a friend. I suggest wearing a button-down flannel or chambray top with a pair of chic ballet flats. As the weather starts to get chillier, transition this look from fall to winter by slipping into some booties for added warmth and finishing off your look with a scarf.
Leather leggings are so versatile. In fact, I've been wearing mine so much that I accidentally washed one of my favorite pairs with my laundry and ruined them! Now that I'm on the hunt for a new pair so I've been researching various options. Here are a few of my favorite finds (including a pair from my LC Lauren Conrad collection and Paper Crown):
ASOS River Island Faux Leather Pants ($96.75), LC Lauren Conrad Skinny Faux-Leather Pants ($37.80), ShopBop Faux Leather Leggings ($88.00), PAPER CROWN BY LAUREN CONRAD Serena Veggie Leather Pant ($156.00), Forever 21 Faux Leather & Ponte Pants ($17.80), TopShop RIB PANEL LEGGINGS ($60)
Do you like the look of leather leggings? Are you going to give this trend a try?

Am new to your site and I love it. Can you also tell me where I can get the blazer, silk top and necklace to go with the leather leggings? Love the whole outfit. Thanks!! -
I agree Lauren! Leather leggings are definitely a fashion item that can be worn at night time say for having drinks with friends or more casually during the day. It just depends on how you accessorise them.

I'm such a big fan of leather leggings! :) By the way they look great on you, Lauren.
I think they're quite versatile and perfect for autumn/winter season. Leather is a big topic
right now and to be honest everyone looks good in a pair of leather leggings combined
with a chunky knit and converse for a daytime look.

A lot of different way to wear those trousers (casual, elegant, cosy, rock'n'roll, ...). My favourite way is wearing with an elegant man jacket and lovely heels :)

I love leather leggings as long as they aren't too shiny or made from a super thin material.
